UPDATE Monday afternoon (Nov. 21, 2011): Matthew Hernandez, the subject of two days of searching is safe. Sierra Madre Search and Rescue assisted by San Dimas Search and rescue conducted search operations, with arial search by Los Angeles County Sheriffs Air 5 conducted search operations Saturday evening and Sunday. Several Family members also combed Big Santa Anita Canyon where Hernandez and several friends had spent several days on a photography project. Weather in the canyon was very wet and cold due to a winter storm that moved in mid morning on Sunday and continued into the ealy morning hours of Monday November 21st. Hernandez walked out of the forest approximately 3:30 AM and walked to a phone and called his father.

Sierra Madre Search and Rescue seeks your help in locating 29-year-old Matthew Hernandez of San Dimas who has been missing since he was last seen at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, near Chantry Flats in the Angeles National Forest above Arcadia.

The 5′ 7″ 180-pound male Hispanic was last seen wearing a green shirt, denim vest and black pants. It is possible he hitched a ride from the National Forest to his San Dimas home, but he has not been in contact with his friends or family.
