The City of Arcadia hosted a celebrating the life and legacy of Council Member Roger Chandler on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
"My name is Sherry Tay, this is my first time speaking at this Council, because I felt strongly to share how I feel about Roger; to pay my respect, to thank him and to say goodbye.
I have know Roger since 2014, after my husband Sho Tay was elected into City Council over 7 years ago.
Roger was very kind and genuine friendly; I enjoyed his humor and his candid personality. He was the man with principles, I admired his endurance and his integrity on many City issues.
Roger was a Hero and a Warrior for Property Owners; he spoke the truth and he fought hard for unrighteousness. For that reason, he was well respected and loved by Chinese community; because his actions speak much louder than his words.
I am very sad that Chinese Community lost a dear friend, a Champion and a Hero. We appreciate the awesome job he has done for us. May God comfort his wife Jane and entire family; and knowing Roger will be dearly missed by all of us indefinitely.
Arcadia is the community of homes, if we had more Leaders like Roger, Arcadia would be a much better place.
