Former Rod’s Restaurant on Their Way to the Approval

The former Rod’s diner at 41 W. Huntington Drive has

undergone an extensive interior remodel to make way for a new Taiwanese Restaurant – Blue Magpie.

An example of Googie-style commercial architecture, the building was constructed in 1957 to house Rod’s Grill restaurant, which operated until 2023. The recent remodel preserved the iconic exterior appearance of the building, including the asymmetrical and cantilevered roofline, and

flagstone façade, while rearranging and updating the building’s interior. A

soft opening of the new restaurant is expected in early May, with a grand opening to follow.
