The Arboretum: Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden

Since the beginning of the dream of an Arboretum, it has grown and addressed issues of how to not only be a place of beauty, but a place to impart knowledge. It has hosted classes in education, history, cooking and crafts. It has presented all sorts of events for everyone to enjoy. Children have had the opportunity to experience science camps. There have been fun seasonal days of celebration in which families could delight. Storytime, musical opportunities and the ability to see wild animal life up close and personal has always been a highlight for visitors.

The Arboretum, by its very nature, is in the business of growth. Its roots in this fertile land are deep and strong. It has been carefully nourished through both public and private sector. It has been tended with thousands upon thousands of volunteer hours. It has survived fire, wind, drought and economics. Its growth rings attest to both years of plenty and years of just holding on. All are part of the wonderous texture of life. It has been a vital part of the Southern California landscape for many decades. May it continue to be!
