Retired teacher luncheon

The California Retired Teachers’ Association #71 (CalRTA) members will receive some reassuring answers to their searching questions at their luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 9 at the Senior Center Building in Arcadia Park, 405 S. Santa Anita Avenue, Arcadia, next to the lawn bowling greens.

Speaker Suzanne De Fonte from the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) will present “Promises Made, Promises Kept,” answering such questions as: * Is my retirement benefit safe? * Will I receive a warrant * Will I get an IOU?

De Fonte has been with CalSTRS for twelve years and has served as Director of Disability Services and is also responsible for the Survivor Benefits Division.

The CalRTA luncheon meeting will take place Guests are welcome to come enjoy the luncheon and to hear the informative speaker.  The cost of the luncheon for members and guests is now $10.  Reservations can be made by calling John Gera at (626) 286-0714.  Friday, October 2, is the reservation deadline.

Membership in the California Retired Teachers’ Association is open to all retired educators and also to any others interested in joining.  CalRTA #71 is a vital group of over 500 members from the San Gabriel Valley area.  The group meets on alternate months, beginning in October and ending in June.
