Police chase, barricaded man

An attempted police stop turned into a pursuit and then a suspect who barricaded himself in a house in Monrovia for hours before giving himself up.

When Arcadia police attempted to approach 26-year-old Ronnie Wilson of Los Angeles about 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon to ask about the stolen 1997 Lexus he was driving at Santa Anita Avenue and Santa Clara Avenue, Wilson attempted to evade the officer by running stop signs and accelerating away.

Wilson then drove east into Monrovia where he abandoned the stolen car in the area of Fig Street and Central Avenue.

Arcadia and Monrovia officers quickly locked down the area preventing the Wilson’s escape. A Monrovia resident contacted Arcadia Police officers and told them an unknown suspect broke into his home and was hiding inside the residence.

Arcadia SWAT was alerted and responded to the Monrovia home where Wilson had barricaded himself inside. Arcadia SWAT, along with members of Pasadena PD SWAT, spent 4½  hours handling the tactical situation that resulted in the apprehension of the Wilson inside the Monrovia home. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Arcadia jail without bail.
