METRO’S COMPLETE STREETS POLICY DEADLINE

  • Dec 9, 2016
  • 1 min read

Metro will provide flexibility on the January 1, 2017 deadline originally prescribed in Metro’s Complete Streets Policy. Metro requires an adopted local Complete Streets policy, an adopted City Council Resolution in support of Complete Streets or an adopted General Plan consistent with the state’s Complete Streets Act of 2008 in order to be eligible for future Metro competitive grant programs.

To ensure widespread adoption and implementation of Complete Streets, cities and the County will need to demonstrate that they meet the requirement at the time they apply for future rounds of Metro capital grant funding. Metro encourages local jurisdictions to continue to move forward expediently with meeting the requirement.

This approach encourages agencies that are unable to meet the January 1, 2017 deadline to still adopt Complete Streets policies. Further, this will allow local policies to be informed by the Complete Streets Training being offered by Metro.
