It’s a Carcadia Christmas

Arcadia-based Model A Ford Club chapter The Santa Anita A’s will anchor the first night of a special “Carcadia Christmas” edition of the monthly Carcadia @Route 66  (Facebook: Carcadia66) Dec. 6 at the Downtown Arcadia Christmas Market. Santa Anita Park is sponsoring the three-week showcase that will also include stand-outs from the 300-member Cal-Rods Car Club of San Gabriel Valley on Dec. 13 along with the best of the eclectic entries in the monthly Carcadia show. The Arcadia-based chapter of Corvettes Limited will get the primary focus on Dec. 20.

Santa Anita Park will offer attendees tickets for free clubhouse admission and 50% off special seating at the upcoming horse racing season that begins Dec. 26, having recently concluded an unprecedented third consecutive global Breeders’ Cup Championship weekend that was another big success.

At least 10 classic Model A’s will be on display this Saturday, Dec. 6, amidst dozens of amazing new and classic cars at the second annual Christmas Market presented by the non-profit Arcadia’s Best Foundation in association with the Arcadia Improvement Association from 5-9 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 6, 13, and 20 on First Avenue between Huntington Drive and Wheeler Street. The 100-plus member families of the 40 year-old Santa Anita A’s have showcased their classic automobiles manufactured from 1928-31 in many events, including the Arcadia’s Best Patriotic Festival and parade. To find out more about the Santa Anita A’s, contact President Bob Travis at 626-574-0665.

Carcadia Christmas, in the parking lot on the northwest corner of First Avenue and Wheeler Street, is open to anyone with a special vehicle of any kind who arrives by 4:30 p.m. Dec. 6, 13, 20.

Carcadia Christmas ornaments will be available for purchase. Carcadia @Route 66 is presented from 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. on the fourth Sunday of each month (except December) in the parking lot behind Denny’s.

The Christmas Market, which features blowing snow, free horse-drawn carriage rides, Dickens Christmas carolers, more than 50 holiday food and merchandise vendors, Santa Claus posing for photos at a classic fire truck, inflated jumpers for kids, and live bands, is sponsored primarily by the Foothill Gold Line, as well as Forest Lawn. Horse carriage rides are free courtesy of MW Investment Group. Waste Management provides trash services. Additional support comes from the City of Arcadia, Matt Denny’s Ale House Restaurant, Marie Taylor of NAI Capital, and attorney April A. Verlato. The event is produced by Family Festival Productions in association with Wayne Tay and Town & Country Event Rentals. Plenty of free parking is available in several public lots off Wheeler Street east and west of First Ave.
