Huntington lanes closure delay

The start of a planned 14-week closure of one lane going each direction on Huntington Drive under the bridge at Second Avenue has been delayed a week from Jan. 3 to at least Wednesday, Jan. 5, and possibly later depending on weather and railroad issues, according to city and county officials. The roads near the intersection may be reduced to one traffic lane for each direction during construction. Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted at least one day prior to the arrival of the work crew. A construction contract for the modification of the existing Metro Gold Line railroad bridge to meet current earthquake design standards has been awarded to Abbott Contracting &Engineering, Inc. If more detailed construction schedule information is required, or if you have anyother questions about the project, please contact Neil Munaweera of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works from 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday at (626) 458-4952 (refer to Project ID RDC0011732 – Huntington Drive & 2nd Avenue). Program documents are available at the main office in Alhambra (900 S. Fremont Ave.).

This project will be administered under the Federal Surface Transportation Program, with federal funds allocated to local agencies being used to finance a portion of the qualifying costs of the project. The remaining costs of the project will be financed with State Highway Account funds. The improvements will be constructed at no cost to the adjacent property owners.
