In response to ridership beyond expectations, Metro yesterday instituted major service improvements to operations of the Foothill Gold Line. Commuters welcomed the changes for a more comfortable and convenient ride after more than three months of standing room only trains and service that had every other train traveling east past Sierra Madre Villa during the morning and afternoon commutes. Below is an article published in the Monrovia Weekly about the service changes, including this quote from Metro Board Chairman, County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas:

“The Metro Gold Line Extension has been a resounding success since it opened March 5, with trains consistently running at full occupancy,” said Mark Ridley-Thomas, LA County Supervisor and Metro Board Chair, in a statement. “The line has been so successful, that it has pushed us to up our game in order to meet our riders’ expectations. Today, we are proud to report that we have heard the public’s call for better service and we are delivering a schedule with even greater frequency.”
