Foothill Gold Line Update: Advanced Conceptual Engineering

Last week, the Construction Authority provided members of the Joint Powers Authority and Technical Advisory Committees a preview of the advanced conceptual engineering drawings for the six-station Foothill Gold Line from Glendora to Montclair. The drawings, which will be presented later this month to the Construction Authority Board of Directors for approval, are the result of more than two years of work reviewing all aspects of the 12.3-mile alignment to develop the future project in coordination with our corridor cities. Once approved by the board, the drawings will be officially sent to each of the corridor cities, along with other key third-party agencies, for a 60-day review and comment period.

This is an important step in the process to ready the project to break ground as soon as funding is available. We anticipate the majority of funding will come from Los Angeles County Metro’s Measure M, which will be on the November 2016 ballot. Link is a fact sheet that is being distributed by Metro to San Gabriel Valley stakeholders with details about Measure M and expenditures anticipated for the Valley, including the funding anticipated for major capital projects like the Foothill Gold Line, multi-year subregional programs, local return to each city (including amounts anticipated) and local transit programs.

In the next few weeks, the Construction Authority will be releasing more details on what has been built along the full corridor from Los Angeles to Montclair. For now, read the story and get a glimpse of the development that has happened, even in the areas where the project has not yet been funded.
