First Avenue will be closed for six months beginning this Monday, Sept. 9, at the intersection with Santa Clara Street near 24 Hour Fitness.
Work will be started on a new “at-grade” (street-level) crossing of the Gold Line Foothill Extension railroad tracks and continue until February 2014.

Additionally, Front Street (between Santa Clara St and St. Joseph St) will be permanently closing Sept. 17, with buildings on that street razed as well.
