The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of October 30 – November 5, 2022. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, October 30 At 8:20 p.m., Truck 105, Engine 41, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105 responded to a report of a person trapped in a vehicle at the intersection of Colorado Drive and Baldwin Avenue. When fire crews arrived there was one vehicle that crashed into the embankment wall on Colorado Drive. One 31-year-old male needed to be removed from his vehicle. Fire crews performed a full trauma assessment and provided medical treatment while transporting the patient to Huntington Health. Arcadia Police Department remained on scene.

Monday, October 31 At 11:06 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical incident in the 600 block of East Live Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, there was one female with a complaint of head trauma from an assault. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included blood pressure check and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment. Tuesday, November 1 At 11:10 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1400 block of Caballero Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 73-year-old male who was suffering from facial trauma after falling. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, glucose check, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Huntington Health for further evaluation and treatment. Wednesday, November 2 At 8:03 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of Cornell Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 60-year-old female who was suffering from abdominal pain. The patient received advanced life support including cardiac monitoring, glucose check, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment Thursday, November 3 At 9:21 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist at the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Live Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 61-year-old male who was suffering from chest pain. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, glucose check, intravenous access, and pain medication. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, November 4 At 2:35 p.m., Engine 106 was dispatched to an animal rescue in the 300 block of Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel conducted a briefing with Department of Fish and Game, Los Angeles County Sheriffs, and Arboretum staff. There were three bears found high in a tree. Fire personnel assisted with removing the bears to a safe position to allow Department of Fish and Game to gain control of the bears and relocate them to a safe area.

Saturday, November 5 At 11:16 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in the 300 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, there was a 17-month-old patient that needed to be transported to a specialty center for pediatric medicine. The patient was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Personnel Update Three of our probationary firefighters are preparing for their three-month examination which will be conducted the week after this reporting period. Three others are preparing for their six-month examination which will occur later in the month. Ongoing training continues for both in-service personnel and probationary firefighters. Training Captain Olivarez continues to be busy in the training division procuring building slated for demolition to allow for real-life training and planning for dynamic inter-crew exercises.
