Fire Department Weekly Report - week of November 3 – 9, 2024


The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of November 3 – 9, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:






Sunday, November 3

At 11:56 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident

in the 100 block of North First Avenue. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a

79-year-old female with a complaint of a syncopal episode and hypotension. The patient

received a full medical evaluation, which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG),

intravenous access, a fluid challenge, and transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further

treatment.


Monday, November 4

At 5:28 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in

the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a

43-year-old male with a complaint of right shoulder pain after a fall from a horse. The

patient received a full trauma assessment, which included an EKG, intravenous access,

and pain relieve medication. Paramedics determined the patient met trauma criteria and

transported him to Huntington Hospital for further treatment.


Tuesday, November 5

At 9:08 a.m., Engine 107, Engine 105, Truck 105, Battalion 105, and Sierra Madre Engine

41 responded to a report of a structure fire in the 600 block of East Orange Grove Avenue.

Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a structure filled with smoke caused by

burned food, which had activated the alarm system. Fire suppression personnel turned

off the stove, used positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke from the structure, and

contained the hazard to the area of origin.


Wednesday, November 6

At 11:10 a.m., Engine 105 and Strike Team 1201A responded to the Mountain Incident to assist multiple agencies with structure defense in the Moorpark area. Engine 106 will remain for several days to handle various tasks, including structure defense, rescue operations, fire line construction, and public assistance.


Thursday, November 7

At 10:59 p.m., Engine 106 and Truck 105 responded to the 100 block of South Fifth

Avenue for a reported person trapped inside an elevator. Fire suppression personnel

utilized non-destructive methods to reset the electrical components of the system, and no

injuries nor damage occurred during this incident.


Friday, November 8

At 4:24 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to assist Pasadena Fire

Department for a reported residential structure fire in the 400 block of Michigan Avenue.

Fire suppression personnel made an aggressive fire attack and held the fire to the building

of origin. Arcadia units were quickly released from this incident.


Saturday, November 9

At 8:32 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a vehicle

versus bicyclist incident in the 100 block of Campus Drive. Upon arrival, fire suppression

personnel found a 31-year-old male with traumatic injuries after falling from his bicycle at

a speed of over 20 miles per hour. The patient received a full trauma assessment, which

included an EKG and intravenous access. Paramedics determined the patient met trauma

criteria and transported him to Huntington Hospital for further treatment.
