Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, February 22nd through Saturday, February 28th

For the period of Sunday, February 22nd through Saturday, February 28th, the Police Department responded to 939 calls for service, of which 87 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled

by the Department during this period.


Sunday, February 22:

At approximately 3:55 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of

Monte Verde Drive regarding a suspicious circumstances report. The resident

discovered a hidden trail camera had been placed to surveil the front door of the

home. The camera was camouflaged with fake shrubbery. The investigation is

ongoing.


Monday, February 23:

At approximately 9:41 p.m., an officer responded to the area of Peck Road and Clark

Street regarding a grand theft incident. Sometime between 2:15 p.m. and 9:41 p.m.,

someone stole the victim’s catalytic converter from their Toyota Tacoma. The

investigation is pending a review of available surveillance footage.Tuesday, February 24:

At approximately 10:08 a.m., an officer responded to a parking lot at 1300 South

Golden West Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle report. Surveillance cameras

captured the suspect stealing the victim’s purse from the front seat while she was

sitting in her car. The suspect fled in a white Nissan Sentra. The investigation is

ongoing.


Wednesday, February 25:

At approximately 9:35 a.m., an officer responded to Wang Mi & Co, located at 735

West Duarte Road, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed

unidentified suspect(s) entered the business by unknown means, activated the

alarm, and possibly fled through the ceiling. No loss was reported.


Thursday, February 26:

At approximately 1:11 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Fairview

Avenue and Golden West Avenue regarding a head-on traffic collision between a

moving vehicle and a parked car. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a

strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver's breath. Through a series of tests,

the officer determined the driver was driving with a blood alcohol content of .33%.

The 45-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City

Jail for booking.


Friday, February 27:

At approximately 11:52 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2300 block of

South Fourth Avenue regarding a mail theft report. The suspect was seen opening the

victim’s mailbox in an attempt to steal mail. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male

between the ages of 20 and 40-years-old. He fled empty-handed in a silver Honda

sedan.


Saturday, February 28:

At approximately 11:14 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2500 block of

Doolittle Avenue regarding an aggravated assault incident. An investigation revealed

the suspect stabbed his mother’s caretaker in an unprovoked attack. The 57-year-old

male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

A records check revealed he had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The victim

did not sustain any major injuries.
