Fire Department Weekly Report - week of November 27 – December 3, 2022

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of November 27 – December 3, 2022. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, November 27 At 12:09 p.m., Engine 105 responded to the 600 block of South El Norte Avenue for a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a well-involved engine compartment fire. The owner had left the vehicle unattended while started and when the owner returned, the vehicle engine compartment was on fire. Fire personnel deployed a 1.5” hose line to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent further extension of the fire. Monday, November 28 At 8:01 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical incident in the 1700 block of North Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 68-year- old male with a complaint of shortness of breath. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment and evaluation. Tuesday, November 29 At 9:36 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a report of electrical wires down in the 1000 block of Coronado Drive. Upon arrival, there were arching wires laying on the ground. The arching electricity was causing a fire hazard. Engine 105 was dispatched to the incident to help ensure that exposures were not threatened by the potential fire hazard. Fire personnel notified Southern California Edison (SCE) of the hazard and remained on scene. SCE arrived, and deenergized power to the area. Fire personnel released incident to SCE for repairs. Wednesday, November 30 At 1:35 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical incident in the 100 block of East Magna Vista Avenue. Upon arrival, there was an 87-year- old patient complaining of bilateral lower extremity pain, after falling. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment and evaluation. Thursday, December 1 At 10:33 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 were dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian incident near the intersection of Duarte Road and Sunset Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 30-year-old patient complaining of back pain after being struck by a vehicle. Fire personnel performed a full assessment and treated the patient for injuries sustained during the accident. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Friday, December 2 At 10:25 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 107, Engine 102,

Truck 105, Truck 101, Rescue Ambulance 105, Battalion 10, Engine 169, and Battalion 105 were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire in the 12000 block of Lower Azusa Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a vehicle fire inside the structure. Fire personnel deployed a 1.75” hose line to extinguish the fire and utilized the aerial ladder to ascend to the roof for ventilation needs. Monrovia units assisted with water supply and positive pressure ventilation. Fire personnel determined there was no fire extension into the structure and were able to confine the fire to the vehicle of origin. Evacuation of 200 employees was completed safely without any injuries. Fire personnel coordinated with building maintenance to shut down the fire suppression sprinklers that activated. Fire investigators responded to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
Saturday, December 3 At 3:30 p.m., Truck 105 responded to a report of a person locked inside in the 500 block of South Santa Anita Avenue. Fire personnel arrived to find a young child locked inside a bedroom. Fire personnel were able to quickly and successfully gain access to the child. The child was in no distress and evaluated by fire personnel.
