Fire Department Weekly Report - week of June 19 – 25, 2022

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of June 19 – 25, 2022. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, June 19 At 6:47 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a vehicle collision at the intersection of Huntington Drive and Santa Clara Street. Upon arrival, there was a two-vehicle traffic collision involving two patients. Fire personnel completed full medical evaluations of the patients and they were transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for an evaluation.

Monday, June 20 At 9:22 a.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, Battalion 105, with assistance from the Monrovia Fire Department, responded to a report of a structure fire in the 100 block of West Colorado Boulevard. Fire crews arrived and found a one-story multi-family residence with smoke and fire showing. Engine 105, Engine 106, and Engine 101 were assigned to fire attack, and they utilized multiple hose lines to extinguish the interior fire. Truck 105 was assigned to vertical ventilation and Engine 107 was assigned to exposure group. Battalion 105 was assigned Incident Command. The fire was extinguished, and the fire spread was limited to two units of the structure.
Tuesday, June 21 At 5:51 a.m., Engine 105 responded to the 5400 block of Peck Road for a reported outdoor fire. Firefighters arrived to find an outdoor rubbish fire burning in an isolated area with no structures threatened. The fire was quickly extinguished and remains under investigation due to a reoccurring issue in the area. Wednesday, June 22 At 11:17 a.m. Engine 106, Engine 105, Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, Battalion 105, with units from the Monrovia Fire Department, responded to a reported residential fire in the 400 block of Rosemarie Drive with a reported occupant unconscious and inside the structure. Fire crews arrived to find light smoke coming from the eave line of the home. Fire crews quickly made entry and found a 50-year-old male and removed him for medical evaluation. The patient denied medical treatment and transportation. The fire was isolated to food on the stove with no fire extension and no structural damage. Thursday, June 23 At 3:25 p.m., Engine 106 with Sierra Madre Rescue Ambulance 41 responded to a medical assist in the 1000 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 56-year-old female patient who was suffering from an altered level of consciousness. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and glucose check. The patient was transported to San Gabriel Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Friday, June 24 At 4:47 p.m., Engine 106 with Pasadena Rescue Ambulance 34 responded to a medical assist in the 700 block of Arroyo Parkway, Pasadena. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 45-year-old male patient who was suffering from flank pain. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and glucose check. The patient was transported to Huntington Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Saturday, June 25
At 10:20 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a medical incident in the 200 block of East Forest Avenue. Upon arrival, there was one patient that was laying on the ground with a complaint of left-sided paralysis. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for an evaluation and treatment.
Training During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 488 hours of training. Some of the subjects include: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
