Fire Department Weekly Report - week of January 2 – 8, 2022


The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of January 2 – 8, 2022. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:


Sunday, January 2 At 1:35 a.m., Truck 105, Battalion 105, with units from Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 6000 block of Rosemead Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire crews found a carport fire involving two vehicles. Fire crews utilized a hose line to extinguish the fire and checked the roof of the structure for fire extension. The fire was contained to the area of origin and there was no damage to other structures. Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatched an arson investigator to determine the cause of the fire. Monday, January 3 At 12:37 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident at the intersection of Second Avenue and Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 64-year-old male patient with a complaint of an injury that was caused by an auto versus pedestrian incident. The patient had a laceration to his left eyebrow and received a full medical evaluation that included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for medical treatment. Tuesday, January 4 At 3:34 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a reported person down in the 300 block of Campus Drive. Fire crews arrived to find a 73-year-old male patient sitting in a public facility. Paramedics completed a full assessment of the patient and found no medical complaint or problem. Through a translator it was discovered that the gentleman was simply tired and was released to the care of his wife. Wednesday, January 5 At 8:26 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 400 block of Santa Clara Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a two-year-old male patient with head trauma. Further investigation revealed the toddler fell off a luggage cart and hit his head. The patient was upset but showed no signs of serious injury. The patient was released to his guardians. Thursday, January 6 At 11:29 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Truck 105, Battalion 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, with units from Monrovia Fire Department responded to an appliance fire in the 600 block of East Pamela Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found light smoke coming from the kitchen area. Fire personnel made access to the kitchen and found plastic pots burning inside the oven. Fire personnel extinguished the fire and used equipment to remove smoke from the residence. Once the area was overhauled, fire personnel cleared the scene. Friday, January 7 At 8:55 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the first block of Bonita Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 69-year-old female patient who was experiencing an altered level of consciousness. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access with medications, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, January 8 At 5:38 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in the 700 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews found an 81-year-old male patient experiencing an altered level of consciousness. The patient received a full medical evaluation that included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for medical treatment. Training During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 324 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre- Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
