The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of August 25 – 31, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this
period:
Sunday, August 25
At 7:25 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a report of an outside fire in the 100 block of West
Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a person sitting on a bus bench,
burning various materials in the street. Fire personnel used a booster hose to extinguish
the fire. Arcadia Police Department responded to the incident and remained on scene
with the individual who had been burning the materials.
Monday, August 26
At 6:55 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, Battalion 105,
along with units from Monrovia and LA County Fire Departments responded to a report
of a structure fire in the 2600 block of Louise Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found
a structure at the rear of the property fully involved in the fire. Fire personnel were
assigned to fire attack and were able to contain the fire to the building of origin. Arcadia
Fire Investigator 105 was assigned to investigate the cause.
Tuesday, August 27
At 12:40 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105
responded to the lobby of Fire Station 105 as a 76-year-old female walked into the station requesting assistance with a
ring removal. Fire personnel utilized a ring cutter to remove three rings due to significant swelling. The patient left without
injury.
Wednesday, August 28
At 12:30 p.m., Engine 107 and Engine 41 responded to the intersection of Canyon Road and Carolwood Drive for a reported vehicle fire. Fire personnel arrived to find a large commercial garbage truck with a fire that was well involved in the compactor area of the truck. The driver was instructed to dump the contents in order for the fire personnel to gain access to extinguish the burning material. The fire was extinguished, and no property damage or injuries occurred.
Thursday, August 29
At 11:28 a.m., Engine 107, Rescue Ambulance 105, and BLS 106 responded to a report
of a bicyclist down at the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Orange Grove Avenue.
Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 70-year-old male with a complaint of pain to his neck
and back. Fire personnel conducted a full trauma assessment on the patient, which
included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and established intravenous access. Paramedics
determined the patient met trauma criteria and transported him to Huntington Hospital for
further treatment.
Friday, August 30
At 8:01 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in
the 00 block of East Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 90-year-old female
with a complaint of a head injury with an altered mental status after falling on the sidewalk.
After providing the patient with a 12-lead electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, and
intravenous access, fire personnel transported the patient to Huntington Hospital for
further treatment.
Saturday, August 31
At 12:24 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident
in the intersection of Huntington Drive and Sunset Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel
found a 59-year-old male laying down at a bus stop with a complaint of a seizure. Fire
personnel performed a full medical evaluation of the patient that included vitals, 12-lead
electrocardiogram, and intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia
Hospital for further treatment.
