Fire Department Weekly Report - week of April 17 – 23, 2022

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of April 17 – 23, 2022. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, April 17
At 5:06 a.m., Engine 107, Engine 37, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105

responded to a reported rollover traffic collision with occupants being trapped on the eastbound 210 Freeway near Santa Anita Avenue. Fire crews found a two-vehicle traffic collision with extensive damage. All occupants reported no injuries. Fire crews provided scene protection until California Highway Patrol arrived
Monday, April 18 At 9:08 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 200 block of East Floral Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an 87-year-old male patient who was experiencing shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, medications, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, April 19 At 8:18 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of East Live Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 76-year- old male patient who was suffering from neck and back pain after a trip and fall. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Wednesday, April 20 At 3:47 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a vehicle collision versus a tree at the intersection of Rodeo Road and Orange Grove Avenue. Upon arrival, there was one vehicle that collided with a tree and one patient that self- extricated from the car. Fire personnel completed a full medical evaluation on the patient and the patient denied transport to the hospital. Arcadia Police Department remained on scene with the patient.

Thursday, April 21 At 8:15 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a medical incident in the 700 block of West Camino Real Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 91- year-old female patient with complaint of having seizures. Fire personnel did a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and cardiac electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, April 22 At 5:03 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 100 block of Campus Drive for a person down. Firefighters arrived to find a 16-year-old female patient with lower extremity pain and deformity after a jump and fall during an organized sporting activity. The extremity was splinted, and the patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further care.
Saturday, April 23 At 5:51 p.m., Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to assist with a residential structure fire in San Marino. Upon arrival it was found that the cause of the smoke was due to a failed electrical panel. There was no fire spread, and Arcadia units were released from the incident. Training During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 346 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre- Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
