Fire Department Weekly Report - October 31 – November 6, 2021

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of October 31 – November 6, 2021. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, October 31 At 6:28 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital to pick up a patient who suffered head trauma from a fall and needed to be transported to a trauma center. Paramedics transported the patient to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further care and evaluation. Monday, November 1 At 3:44 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1500 block of First Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 70-year-old male patient experiencing general dizziness. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and glucose check. The patient was transported to San Gabriel Community Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, November 2 At 12:00 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 11100 block of Lynrose Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 47-year-old male patient experiencing abdominal pain. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring and glucose check. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Wednesday, November 3 At 5:42 a.m., Rescue Ambulance 105 and Monrovia Fire Engine 102 responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian incident in the 5400 block of Peck Road. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 24-year-old male patient who had been hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle. The patient received advanced life support including intravenous therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, spinal motion restriction, and a transport to Huntington Memorial Hospital. Thursday, November 4 At 7:33 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 300 block of Las Flores Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 93-year-old female patient experiencing general weakness with flu-like symptoms. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring and glucose check. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Friday, November 5 At 12:22 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue for a reported fall victim. Fire crews arrived to find two patients that had fallen down an escalator, and both patients suffered significant trauma. Both patients received advanced life support treatments and were transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further care. Saturday, November 6 At 11:54 a.m., Engine 106 with San Marino Rescue Ambulance 91 responded to the 900 block of Encanto Drive for a reported fall victim. Fire crews arrived to find an 80-year-old female patient that had fallen and was suffering from a shoulder injury with obvious signs of deformity. Paramedics initiated advanced life support treatments and stabilized the patient’s injury for transportation. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further care and treatment.
Training During the reporting period, Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 372 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre- Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
