The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of March 13-19, 2022. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period.
Sunday, March 13 At 5:07 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1600 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an 84- year-old male suffering from an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support at the scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, blood glucose level monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment. Monday, March 14 At 3:00 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Fire personnel arrived to find a 1-year-old toddler suffering from an altered level of consciousness, possibly from a seizure. The patient received advanced life support at the scene including cardiac monitoring, blood glucose level monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to LAC+USC Medical Center Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, March 15 At 1:10 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 300 block of Cabrillo Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an elderly male experiencing chest pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support at the scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, blood glucose level monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Wednesday, March 16 At 5:36 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of El Monte Avenue and West Camino Real Avenue. Fire units arrived to find a two- vehicle traffic collision with power lines down and over the involved vehicles. Firefighters quickly isolated and evacuated the area due to the downed power lines. Paramedics provided advanced life support to two patients with multiple injuries and transported them to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, March 17 At 9:53 p.m., Engine 106 and Truck 105 responded to an elevator rescue call in the 500 block of West Duarte Road. Engine 106 arrived and found two occupants trapped in an elevator and in need of rescue. Truck 105 arrived and shut down power to the elevator. Firefighters utilized specialized non-destructive tools to open the elevator doors and safely removed the uninjured occupants. The elevator was taken out of service. Friday, March 18 At 5:37 a.m., Engine 105 and Pasadena Engine 37 responded to a vehicle fire on the westbound 210 Freeway. Engine 105 arrived to find a large commercial truck and trailer with heavy fire involvement surrounding the trailer and a tractor on the trailer. The fire was knocked down with one hoseline over an extended firefight. A second engine company shuttled additional tanks of water utilized for fire control. The off ramp was shut down and the scene was released to the California Highway Patrol for clean-up measures.
Saturday, March 19 At 2:39 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1000 block of La Cadena Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 51-year- old female experiencing general weakness. Paramedics provided advanced life support at the scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring and blood glucose level monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment. Training During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 361 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre- Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
