The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of July 10 - 16, 2022. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, July 10 At 12:46 p.m., Engine 105, Monrovia Engine 102, and L.A. County Engine 169 responded to an outdoor vegetation fire the 5400 block of Peck Road. L.A. County Engine 169 was first on scene and found a vegetation fire in a remote area contained by a drainage. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished by responding units. There was no fire extension and no property damage. The incident is under investigation due to human activity. Monday, July 11 At 9:11 a.m., Rescue Ambulance 106 responded with Sierra Madre Engine 41 to a medical assist on the corner of North Michillinda Avenue and East Sierra Madre Boulevard in the city of Sierra Madre. Fire personnel arrived to find an elderly female with a facial laceration and head pain after a trip and fall. The patient received advanced life support on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose level monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment. .Tuesday, July 12 At 12:44 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call in the 700 block of West Camino Real Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an 88- year-old male suffering from general weakness. Paramedics provided advanced life support on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, blood glucose level monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment. Wednesday, July 13 At 3:43 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 700 block of West Huntington Drive. Fire personnel arrived to find a 66-year-old male suffering from hypertension. The patient received advanced life support on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose level monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment. Thursday, July 14 At 6:13 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a person in distress call in the 700 block of West Naomi Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found a 23-year-old male with a developmental disability who was disoriented, lost, and unable to find his way home. Fire crews coordinated and communicated with family members to get him safely home. Arcadia Police transported the young man to his residence. Friday, July 15 At 11:18 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic collision on the westbound 210 Freeway at Santa Anita Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a two- vehicle traffic collision and a 76-year-old female suffering from head and neck pain. Paramedics evaluated the patient who declined transport to a hospital and remained on scene with family members. Saturday, July 16 At 6:39 a.m., Truck 105 responded to an elevator rescue in the 100 block of North Second Avenue. Responding firefighters were cancelled enroute to the location as the reporting party called back stating there was a misunderstanding in communication. No one was trapped and no rescue was needed. Personnel Update Our three newest probationary firefighters successfully completed their shadowing and one-month on-the-job training. Each of them will be given their first assignment and continue with their probationary training starting next week. In addition, the first two fire engineer promotions will also occur next week. Our assigned training captain continues to be busy organizing and deploying effective training to our newest members as shown in these pictures. Tenured members of the department are also benefitting.

Training During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 396 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre- Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
