The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of February 23 – 29, 2020. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period
Sunday, February 23
At 7:47 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist call in the 700 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 77-year-old female patient who was suffering from abdominal pain. The patient received advanced life support at the scene including: 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and pain medication. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, February 24
At 6:20 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 1600 block of South Baldwin Avenue for a medical assist. When the fire crew arrived, a 97-year-old male patient who was suffering from altered level of consciousness was evaluated. The patient received advanced life support at the scene including: oxygen therapy, medications, and evaluation. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, February 25
At 4:27 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic collision with injuries at Santa Anita Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel found two vehicles involved. Further investigation found one 51-year-old female patient complaining of arm, neck, and back pain. The patient received advanced life support at the scene including: glucose monitoring, intravenous access, and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to San Gabriel Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, February 26
At 10:12 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist call in the 900 block of Boley Street. Fire crews arrived to find an 87-year-old female complaining of feeling weak and dizzy. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including: IV therapy and electrocardiogram. Patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, February 27
At 5:22 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 500 block of Windsor Drive for a medical assist. Fire crews arrived to find a 61-year-old female complaining of abdominal pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including: IV therapy, oxygen therapy, and electrocardiogram. Patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, February 28
At 1:09 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist call in the 1700 block of Mayflower Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an 89-year-old female patient who was suffering from weakness and dizziness. The patient received advanced life support at the scene including: 12 lead cardiac monitoring and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.
Saturday, February 29
At 5:52 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the first block of West Duarte Road for a medical assist. Fire personnel arrived and evaluated a 23-year- old female patient who was suffering from chest pain with dysrhythmia. The patient received advanced life support on scene including: 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, aspirin, and pain medication. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.
Volunteer Activity
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 56 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 473 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
