Fire Department Weekly Report - December 26, 2021 – January 1, 2022.

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of December 26, 2021 – January 1, 2022.


Sunday, December 26 At 12:25 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call at the 400 block of West Duarte Road. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a 92-year-old female patient who was experiencing an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics assessed the patient and performed advanced life support measures on scene including cardiac monitoring, intravenous therapy, and glucose level monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Monday, December 27 At 3:48 a.m., Engine 106 responded to a report of a dumpster fire at the 1000 Block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, Engine 106 found a 3-yard dumpster on fire. Fire personnel utilized a hose and a rubbish hook to extinguish the fire. The fire did not extend to other structures; it was contained to the area of origin. After investigation, the cause of the fire was undetermined. Tuesday, December 28 At 9:51 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical call at the 600 Block of Sandra Avenue. Upon arrival, Fire crews found an 85-year-old female with a complaint of feeling weak and nauseous. The patient received a full medical evaluation including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and vital signs checkup. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for medical treatment. Wednesday, December 29 At 2:05 p.m., Engine 105 and Truck 105 responded to the 300 block of First Avenue for a flooded condition. Fire crews arrived to find a broken water line due to vandalism causing a major flooding inside of a school. Fire crews began evacuating water from the structure and the Public Works Services’ Water Department was called upon to shut down the damaged water line and valve. Thursday, December 30 At 3:17 p.m., Engine 105 Responded to the 5400 block of Peck Road for a report of smoke in the area. Firefighters arrived to find a small fire in the Peck Conservation area. Firefighters extinguished the fire and escorted the trespassers out. No property damage was reported during this incident. Friday, December 31 At 11:56 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call at the 300 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, Fire personnel were requested by the Arcadia Methodist Hospital for a patient transfer to Huntington Memorial Hospital. The patient was a 55-year-old male who was suffering from aortic aneurism. The patient received advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, January 1, 2022 At 3:02 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical at the 1600 Block of South First Avenue. Upon arrival, Fire personnel evaluated a 43-year-old male patient who was suffering from ankle pain due to a fall. The patient received advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and medications. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Training During the reporting period, Arcadia Fire Department (AFD) conducted a total of 326 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
