Sunday, March 24 — At 2:08 p. m., Engine 105, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to traffic collision with a person trapped in the intersection of Camino Real Avenue and Lovell Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a two vehicle traffic accident with one vehicle on its side. Truck personnel stabilized one vehicle while additional personnel assessed the conditions of the drivers of the vehicles. One driver required medical aid and was placed in full cerebral spinal precautions and transported to a local hospital.
Monday, March 25 — At 9:13 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a male patient who was suffering from an altered mental status, post seizure activity. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, March 26 — At 3:06 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical emergency in the 100 block of East Foothill Boulevard. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a 7 year old child in seizure. Paramedics assessed and transported the patient to the closest pediatric medical center.
Wednesday, March 27 — At 5:20 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist at an orthodontic office in the 1000 block of West Huntington Drive. Fire crews arrived to find a 25 year old female who was seated in a dental chair for minor adjustments to her orthodonture when she experienced a first-time seizure. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene; 12 lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.
Thursday, March 28 — At 10:07 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a minor trauma in the 400 block of West Lemon Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a 6 year old child with a head injury. Paramedics assessed and placed the patient in full cerebral spinal precautions prior to transport to the closest pediatric trauma center. — At 1:05 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic collision involving an automobile and two pedestrians in the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Fairview Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene to find two patients, a mother and her child. Paramedics assessed both patients and placed the child in full cerebral spinal precautions due to a possible head injury. Both patients were transported to the closest pediatric trauma center.
Friday, March 29 — At 8:44 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 0000 block of South First Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 13 year old female suffering from shoulder pain after a fall while participating in a three-legged race. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene; 12 lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, sling to immobilize her shoulder and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.
Saturday, March 30 — At 2:32 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 400 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from severe shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Training During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 613 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
Volunteer Weekly Activity Report During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 13 hours of volunteer activities. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with Fire Prevention Bureau and Fire Administration duties.
