Carcadia Mustangs and More

It was another fun morning at Carcadia @Route 66, with a row of Mustangs, Shelbys and Cobras spotlighted in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the pony car, and other fun car models.


Among the new and returning Mustangs on display today, Sunday, April 27:

  1. 2009 black Cobra Shelby GT 500, the pride of Belle n’ Beau photography studio owner Raymond Elgin.

  2. 1965 blue Cobra replica with a 427 small block owned by Steve Gallegos

  3. 2008 blue Shelby GT 4.6, a pre-title edition owned by Larry Rodriguez

  4. 1967 black Mustang with a 302 six-cylinder owned by Dave Hopf

  5. 1967 green Shelby GT 350 with a 302 small block owned by Ara Hagopian

Anyone with a car or vehicle of any kind who thinks it’s cool, is welcome to join Carcadia at any month’s event for no charge. Just bring your fun stories about your ride and spread the word to others to come and share theirs each month.

Carcadia attracts all sorts of people from all walks of life and even almost all the City Council members, four of which have brought their own cars to showcase. Two of the five current City Councilmen were there today, Sho Tay and Mayor Pro tem Gary Kovacic. Mayor Pro Tem Kovacic even promoted the event on the most recent edition of Time Warner Cable’s Local Edition TV show (story and photos continue below the following 4-minute video):

Among the exciting new participants today was:

  1. 1932 yellow Ford roadster with 381 engine and 681 supercharger generating a whopping 610 horsepower owned by Gary Stellern.


A “c Car” hot rod by Smittys Signworks built mostly from a 1923 Buick truck into a Ford with a 401 nailhead engine.

  1. 1930 green Model A Ford pick-up owned by former Mayor Bob Harbicht

  2. 1949 light blue Chrysler Royal driven by John McMahon instead of the classic Packard he brought to a recent Carcadia. McMahon says the Chrysler has been in the family since 1949, and he has driven it himself since he was in high school.


1973 black Pantera with a 351 Cleveland motor owned by Rob Arias.

  1. 1955 green Thunderbird convertible owned by Loren Moeller.

  2. 1931 gray Ford Roadster with a 41 flathead engine owned by Karl Beilstein.


Among the returning participants were owners from the “Purist” group on Facebook, among others:

Honda Civic SI owned by Felipe Tan Chu

  1. 1959 Ford Galaxie police car under the care of Gene Glasco and the support of the Arcadia Historical Society.


Two of the half-dozen ’56 Chevys belonging to the family of the late Mike Daleo, including his prized red/white Bel Air driven by son Tim and the green/white 210 preferred by Tim’s wife Tiffany.

  1. Camaro that is the favorite of Sandi Consiglio whose husband Phil Consiglio drives a classic Corvette that is part of a local club.
