Articles Highlight Foothill Gold Line’s Influence on the Regions

Monrovia, CA – Below is a compilation of recent stories that ran in a variety of print and on-line media outlets throughout the region about the influence the Foothill Gold Line light rail project has had on the region; including the front-page stories featured in the Southern California News Group papers (Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin and Los Angeles Daily News). The stories cover different topics, including: the historic ridership levels reached on the Gold Line system; the Construction Authority’s effort to ready the Glendora to Montclair segment for construction; and the impact the light rail system has had on the regional economy, real estate development, higher education and community planning.

The Construction Authority is currently seeking $1.2 billion to build 12.3-mile Foothill Gold Line from Glendora to Montclair. The majority of the funding is expected to come from Measure M (the Los Angeles County Traffic Improvement Plan), the half-cent sales tax measure placed on tomorrow’s ballot by Los Angeles County Metro. If approved by voters, the extension of the Foothill Gold Line to the county line in Claremont will be one of the first projects to break ground under the measure.
