Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report -Sunday, September 11, through Saturday, September


For the period of Sunday, September 11, through Saturday, September 17 the Police Department responded to 887 calls for service, of which 105 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, September 11:

  1. At 4:01 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle stopped in the roadway in the 5000 block of Peck Road. The driver had fallen asleep while driving. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 34-year-old male from Paramount was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At 12:56 p.m., an officer responded to Faro De Luz Pentecostal Church, 601 Live Oak Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim left his vehicle parked in the parking lot around 10:30 a.m. and returned at 12:40p.m. to find it had been stolen. The vehicle was located the next day by California Highway Patrol in Baldwin Park.

  3. At 9:55 Officers responded to a residence in Monrovia regarding a child abuse incident that had occurred in the 400 block of Lemon Avenue in Arcadia. An investigation revealed a father had grabbed his four-year-old son’s arms and shook him violently leaving bruises. The 34-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Monday, September 12:

4. At 1:46 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and the 210 Freeway regarding a welfare check on a driver. The vehicle was stopped in the roadway with the engine running. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 40- year-old male from Duarte was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


5. At 9:01 p.m., officers responded to Jack in the Box, 164 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a male subject playing with multiple knives inside the business. Upon contacting the 35-year- old male from Arcadia, the officer noticed symptoms of alcohol intoxication and determined the suspect was unable to care for himself. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Tuesday, September 13:

6. At 8:41 a.m., officers responded to Arcadia City Hall, 240 West Huntington Drive, regarding a male subject creating a disturbance by yelling at a city employee. A citizen’s arrest was made and the 43-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


7. At 6:16 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 00 block of Arthur Avenue regarding a noise complaint. Officers contacted the reporting party in his front yard. Upon contacting the 57-year-old male from Arcadia, the officer noticed symptoms of alcohol intoxication and determined the suspect was unable to care for himself. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Wednesday, September 14: 8. At 11:02 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of West Huntington Drive, regarding a fraud report. The victim received bills for charges she did not incur from three different companies. The investigation is ongoing.

Thursday, September 15:

9. At 12:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Huntington Drive regarding a robbery suspect. The victim of a robbery saw the suspect in the area. Officers located the suspect and a foot pursuit ensued. The 31-year-old male from Temple City was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


10. At 7:14 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Caballero Road regarding an attempted burglary that had just occurred. The suspect shattered a window and was scared off by the resident inside. The suspect fled the scene in a dark colored SUV with tinted windows and no license plates.


11. At 8:29p.m., officers responded to Westfield Santa Anita, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding the report of a male suspect attempting to open car doors in the parking lot. Officers located the suspect and asked him to have a seat pending their investigation. At that time, the suspect stood up and ran from the officers into the Circus Vargas. Circus employees chased him into the parking lot where he was detained by officers. The suspect had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 23-year-old male from Chino Hills was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Friday, September 16:

12. At 6:45 p.m., an officer patrolling Eisenhower Park, 601 North Second Avenue, contacted a male subject near the snack bar. The officer discovered the 32-year-old male from Arleta had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


13. At 11:46 p.m., officer responded to a residence in the 2200 block of South Third Avenue regarding a burglary. The officer determined unidentified suspect(s) entered the residence by smashing a rear glass door, ransacked several rooms and stole several purses, before fleeing. No suspects were seen, and no witnesses were located. The investigation is ongoing.


Saturday, September 17: 14. At 5:58 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2400 block of South Baldwin Avenue regarding a restraining order violation. The subject of the restraining order refused to leave and locked himself inside a room. Officers made entry and found him under the influence of drugs and unwilling to cooperate. He actively resisted arrest and one officer received a minor injury to his hand. The 37-year-old male from Arcadia was ultimately arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
