Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, October 2nd through Saturday, October 8th

For the period of Sunday, October 2nd through Saturday, October 8th, the Police Department responded to 964 calls for service, of which 109 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period. Sunday, October 2:

  1. At 12:21 a.m., an officer responded to a parking lot in the 00 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle incident. Sometime between 3:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., someone smashed the vehicle window and fled with a cellphone and a bicycle.

  2. At 10:52 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of West Duarte Road regarding a fraud report. The victim stated he lost his wallet and discovered fraudulent transactions on his debit card.

Monday, October 3:

3. At 10:09 a.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a grand theft that occurred on September 29th at the Shops at Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue. An investigation revealed the suspect, an Asian male approximately 5’6” tall, stole the victim’s bracelet from her wrist while she was walking inside the mall.

4. At 3:22 p.m., an officer responded to the Shops at Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. The officer discovered the suspect was witnessed stealing more than $600.00 worth of merchandise from Macy’s. The 29-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check also revealed the suspect also had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

Tuesday, October 4:

5. At 8:06 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Camino Real Avenue, regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked guest house, then broke a window into the main home, but it appears they failed to enter the home or fled empty handed. It is unknown if any loss was incurred.


6. At 3:02 p.m., an officer responded to the Shops at Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle. The victim discovered his Hyundai Tucson was stolen from the Macy’s parking lot sometime between 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.


Wednesday, October 5:

7. At 4:35 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia High School, located at 180 Campus Drive, regarding the activation of a GPS tracker on a bicycle. Upon locating the bicycle, the officer located a male suspect. The 38-year-old male from Duarte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


8. At 11:13 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of South Third Avenue regarding a burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed an unknown suspect entered her garage and then entered two parked vehicles and fled with the victim’s purse. Another suspect was seen on surveillance footage using the victim’s stolen credit card to process a fraudulent purchase. The suspects are described as a male with a large build, approximately 25 to 35- years-old and a 30 to 45-year-old female. Both suspects are outstanding as of the release of this report.


Thursday, October 6:

9. At 5:58 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of Bonita Street regarding a theft from vehicle report. Sometime during the previous night, someone entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and various items.


10. At 11:26 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of South Tenth Avenue regarding a trespassing report. While the officers were conducting a check of the property, two trespassers were located. A 43-year-old female from Irwindale and a 30-year-old male from Monrovia were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The female also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.


Friday, October 7:

11. At 11:53 a.m., an officer responded to a business complex in the 00 block of East Huntington Drive regarding a mail theft report. Surveillance footage revealed the female suspect forcefully opened the community mail boxes and stole mail. The total loss is unknown.


12. At 3:36 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia High School, located at 180 Campus Drive, regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed an altercation between two students resulted in a mutual fight. The investigation is ongoing.


Saturday, October 8:

13. At 8:14 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of West Naomi Avenue regarding an attempted stolen vehicle incident. Surveillance footage of the incident revealed the suspect exited his white, older model SUV, and used a tool to tamper with the ignition of the victim’s truck. When the victim confronted the suspect, the suspect fled. He is described as a White male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap, and a bandana covering his face.


14. At 9:14 p.m., an officer responded to the Shops at Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. The victim discovered his tailgate had been stolen from his Ford F-150 sometime between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
