Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, October 16th through Saturday, October 22


For the period of Sunday, October 16th through Saturday, October 22nd, the Police Department responded to 875 calls for service, of which 89 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period. Sunday, October 16:

1. At 1:38 a.m., an officer responded to a business complex at 450 East Huntington Drive regarding two commercial burglaries, one to Optum Medical Building and the second to Sunny Bay Pharmacy. An investigation revealed two suspects smashed the front window of the medical office building and then broke through the wall to the pharmacy and stole medication. The suspects are described as two males wearing black hooded sweaters with face coverings.


2. At 7:33 a.m., an officer responded to Ralphs, located at 211 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a grand theft report. The victim stated she left her purse on the front passenger seat while she loaded her groceries. The suspect then drove up in a grey SUV, opened the front passenger door, and stole the victim’s purse. The suspect is described as a White female, approximately 30 to 40-years-old, wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and with a heavyset build.


3. At 4:49 p.m., an officer responded to the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department regarding a battery that had occurred at BJ’s Restaurant, located at 400 East Huntington Drive. The officer discovered the victim, an employee of the restaurant, was punched in the face by a customer. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his late twenties, approximately 6’2”, with a stocky build.


Tuesday, October 18:

4. At 4:47 p.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim discovered his 2019 Hyundai Elantra was stolen from the area sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on October 18th. The vehicle was later recovered by the Alhambra Police Department and was returned to the owner.


5. At 9:15 p.m., an officer responded to a building in the 600 block of West Duarte Road regarding a trespassing incident. The officer located the suspect and identified him from previous contacts and warnings about trespassing at the location. The 48-year-old male transient from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check revealed he also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.


6.At 11:58 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a fraud report. An investigation revealed the victim was tricked into converting US currency into Chinese Yuan using the WeChat application.


Wednesday, October 19: 7. At 4:30 p.m., an officer responded to the 11700 block of Goldring Road regarding a theft from vehicle report. Sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on October 19th, someone stole the victim’s tailgate from his Ford F-150. Thursday, October 20:

8. At 10:15 a.m., officers responded to Abernathy Insurance, located at 133 East Duarte Road, regarding a theft from vehicle incident. A witness reported seeing two suspects entered a coworker’s vehicle and steal paperwork and shoes. The suspects are described as two Hispanic males, both 25 to 30-years-old and 5’5” tall, approximately 200 pounds. They fled in a silver Audi sedan.

9. At 2:52 p.m., an officer responded to Chevron, located at 500 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a vandalism report. Surveillance footage captured a male suspect drive away with the air nozzle attached to his vehicle, leaving the air pump damaged.

Friday, October 21:

10. At 8:25 a.m., an officer responded to the 1200 block of South Ninth Avenue regarding a theft report. The victim discovered someone had stolen the bags of clothing she had left outside for a drive-by donation pick up.

11. At 9:29 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of South Third Avenue regarding a burglary report. Sometime during the previous evening, someone stole the garage door opener from a vehicle and used it to enter the victim’s garage. Once inside, the unidentified suspect entered another vehicle and fled with cash and sunglasses.


12. At 4:49 p.m., an officer responded to a parking lot in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer determined an unknown suspect smashed one of the windows and fled with the victim’s CD wallet and CD’s. Saturday, October 22:

13. At 12:07 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of East Lemon Avenue regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear glass door and ransacked the bedroom. They fled with purses. The crime happened sometime between 7:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on October 21st.


14. At 9:31 a.m., an officer responded to Rico’s Pollo Puebla, located at 108 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a commercial burglary. Surveillance footage revealed a male suspect smashed the front window and stole the cash register drawer.
