Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report --Sunday, May 29th through Saturday, June 4th


For the period of Sunday, May 29th through Saturday, June 4th, the Police Department responded to 917 calls for service, of which 112 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, May 29:

  1. At 3:56 a.m., an officer responded to Bank of America, located at 180 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding an audible alarm activation. The officer discovered the suspect, who was still inside the location when he arrived, accessed the bank by unknown means and stole various paperwork. The suspect, a local 36-year-old male transient, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At 11:08 a.m., an officer responded to JCPenney, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects stole 16 pairs of Levi jeans from the men’s section resulting in a loss of $1,112.00. They are described as two Hispanic males wearing jean pants and one suspect was wearing a grey Gap hooded sweatshirt and the other was wearing a light colored button down shirt.

Monday, May 30:

3. At 9:54 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime during the previous night, someone smashed the driver side front window and ransacked the vehicle. They fled emptyhanded.


4. At 6:41 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Huntington Drive and 2nd Avenue regarding a traffic collision. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .151%. The 28-year-old male from Rancho Cucamonga was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Tuesday, May 31:

5. At 3:54 a.m., an officer responded to the area of 2nd Avenue and Colorado Boulevard regarding a theft incident. The officer discovered the suspect, an ex-boyfriend to the victim, stole her cellphone. The 35-year-old male from El Monte was gone by the time the officer arrived.


6. At 8:18 a.m., an officer responded to Natural Grill, located at 305 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary. An investigation revealed someone smashed an east-side window and fled with a safe containing cash. The incident was captured by surveillance footage cameras.


Wednesday, June 1:

7. At 8:18 a.m., an officer responded to Healthy Smile Dental Office, located at 75 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding an attempted commercial burglary report. The officer determined an unidentified suspect smashed one of the windows with the intention of burglarizing the business. It is unknown of the suspect entered the business or fled with any stolen property. The investigation is ongoing.


8. At 11:42 a.m., an officer responded to Gold’s Gym, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a battery report. The victim stated an altercation with a fellow gym patron resulted in the suspect grabbing him by the shoulder and leaving a bruise. The suspect, a 60-year-old male from Arcadia, is outstanding as of this time and the investigation is ongoing.


Thursday, June 2: 9. At 7:35 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Sash & Door Co., located at 129 East La Porte Street, regarding a mail theft incident. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, a male wearing dark clothing and riding on a bicycle, discarded stolen mail at the location. The victim of the stolen mail was a resident of the 400 block of East Colorado Boulevard.

10. At 2:28 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1400 block of South 10th Avenue regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed an acquaintance of the victim entered the home through an unlocked window and fled with cash and the victim’s car. The investigation is ongoing.

Friday, June 3:

11. At 9:12 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of Santa Clara Street regarding a vandalism report. Surveillance footage captured an unidentified suspect throwing an object at one of the windows of Excelsior School. The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male, with a thin build, approximately 5’8” tall.


12. At 1:49 p.m., an officer responded Arcadia Citi Center, located at 55 East Huntington Drive, regarding a mail theft report. The officer discovered someone tampered with the victim’s mail box and fled with stolen mail. Surveillance footage shows the suspect as an unidentified White female.


13. At 4:26 p.m., an officer responded to Westfield Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle report. An investigation revealed the victim’s 2019 Ford Fusion was stolen from the parking lot sometime between 4:15 p.m. and 4:25 p.m.


Saturday, June 4: 14. At 5:01 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot at 51 North 5th Avenue regarding an aggravated assault incident. The officer discovered the suspect, a 37-year-old male transient, threw a large rock at a fire fighter. The rock missed the victim and instead damaged City of Arcadia property. A passerby was nearly injured by the rock as well. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
