Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report -Sunday, March 31st, through Saturday, April 6th


For the period of Sunday, March 31st, through Saturday, April 6th, the Police Department responded to 931 calls for service of which 85 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.



Sunday, March 31:

1. At 7:40 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of La Sierra Drive regarding the report of a domestic disturbance. The resident’s ex-girlfriend was behaving aggressively, yelling, and throwing things. Officers contacted the female and discovered she was intoxicated and in possession of cocaine. The 28-year-old female from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

2. At 7:45 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Huntington Drive and Golden West Avenue regarding a hit and run traffic collision. The suspect driver made a left turn onto Huntington Drive at a red light. The driver struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk then fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was described as a black minivan.


Monday, April 1:

3. At 7:20 p.m., officers responded to JCPenney, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a shoplifting report. A loss prevention officer witnessed two suspects, a male and female, conceal numerous items inside a shopping bag before exiting the store without paying. The female suspect refused to return the stolen merchandise and fled the scene. The 46-year-old male from West Covina was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Tuesday, April 2:

4. At 10:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of Santa Clara Street and Fifth Avenue regarding the notification of a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located and recovered the stolen vehicle. The 29-year-old male driver from Baldwin Park was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

5. At 10:43 a.m., officers responded to Orchid Arcadia, 11911 Clark Street, regarding a burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) forced the rear pedestrian door and stole a forklift.

6. At 4:57 p.m., an officer responded to the parking garage at 125 Colorado Place regarding the report of a vehicle burglary. Unknown suspect(s) entered a vehicle by unknown means and stole paperwork and a blanket.


Thursday, April 4:

7. At 12:24 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of North Baldwin Avenue and West Foothill

Boulevard when he located a vehicle that had been reported stolen. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, detaining the driver and recovering the stolen vehicle. The 16-year-old male driver from Pasadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

8. At 11:51 a.m., officers responded to Motel 6, 225 Colorado Place, regarding a vehicle burglary in progress. The suspect was seen trying door handles on vehicles in the parking lot until she found an unlocked door. The suspect stole clothing from inside a truck. Officers located the suspect. The 27-year-old female transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Friday, April 5:

9. At 10:51 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of West Duarte Road regarding a strongarm robbery that had just occurred. A witness heard the victim screaming and saw the suspect pull the victim’s bag from her before hitting her with it and fleeing to a nearby vehicle. The witness, who recognized the suspect, confronted her, and demanded the bag be returned to the victim. Officers located the suspect, and the 65-year-old female transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

10. At 6:53 p.m., an officer was patrolling the area near 7-Eleven, 102 East Huntington Drive, when he observed two male subjects arguing. The officer witnessed one subject attempt to hit the other subject with a wooden plank. The 37-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

11. At 7:22 p.m., officers responded to Nordstrom, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery report. A loss prevention officer witnessed a suspect use wire cutters to steal a jacket. The loss prevention officer contacted the suspect, and the suspect elbowed him in the face before fleeing the scene. The suspect was described as male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, 200 pounds, 30 to 35- years-old, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue sweatpants, and black sandals.

12. At 10:58 p.m., an officer responded to the area of Las Tunas Drive and Baldwin Avenue regarding a solo vehicle traffic collision where the driver drove into the center median. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 32-year-old female from La Puente was driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and issued a citation.


Saturday, April 6:

13. At 6:21 p.m., an officer responded to the area of Greenfield Avenue and Live Oak Avenue regarding the report of a possible drunk driver. The officer located the suspect driving his vehicle with a flat tire. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver who was emitting a strong odor of alcohol. The officer observed open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle, and through a series of tests, the officer determined the 57-year-old male from Arcadia was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
