Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, February 4th, through Saturday, February 10th



For the period of Sunday, February 4th, through Saturday, February 10th, the Police Department responded to 1,015 calls for service of which 102 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, February 4:

1. At 11:08 a.m., officers responded to the parking lot of the Metro Train Station, 201 North First

Avenue, regarding an unconscious man lying on the ground. Officers discovered the subject was experiencing a drug overdose. They administered Narcan and he regained consciousness before being transported for further treatment.

2. At 11:35 a.m., officers responded to the Mini Mart Kiosk inside The Shops at Santa Anita, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a burglary that had occurred. The suspect broke into a display case and stole several packs of cigarettes and cellphone chargers. The suspect was described as male, approximately 25 to 30-years-old, with brown hair, wearing a red hat, a hooded sweatshirt, and black pants.

3. At 5:28 p.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a tire in lanes of traffic. The officer located a disabled vehicle in the roadway. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 39-year-old male from Apple Valley was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. It was discovered that he had been involved in a hit and run traffic collision. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Monday, February 5:

4. At 10:28 a.m., officers responded to The Hilton Garden Inn, 199 North Second Avenue, regarding a subject who was trespassing. The desk clerk allowed the woman to use the restroom and she failed to exit the hotel. Employees discovered the woman had entered an unlocked hotel room and refused to leave. The woman threatened to jump out of the window and was seen attempting to unlock the window. Maintenance staff forced entry to the room by cutting the latch and officers were able to apprehend the woman. The 46-year-old transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Tuesday, February 6:

5. At 3:20 a.m., officers responded to Hop Café, 168 Las Tunas Drive, regarding an audible alarm. An investigation revealed a male suspect gained entry to the location by smashing the front door. He stole the cash box and fled the scene in an unknown direction. A second burglary was reported at a nearby business, Long Time Ago BBQ Bar. The front window had been smashed and the cash register, three iPads and an iPhone were stolen. The suspect was described as male, with an average build, wearing a light-colored baseball hat, hooded sweatshirt, and pants, with a black medical face mask.

6. At 10:15 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle collide with a center median in the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Santa Clara Street. The vehicle had a flat tire and failed to yield to the officer. The driver continued till he reached his home. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 35- year-old male from Arcadia was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. It was also discovered that he had been involved in a hit and run traffic collision near Duarte Road and Baldwin Avenue. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

7. At 10:23 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of East Norman Avenue regarding a domestic dispute. The victim told officers her boyfriend had been drinking and had grabbed her by the hair, pulling her hair out. He then threw her on the floor and kicked her twice. The victim was able to run to a neighbor to call for help. Officers located the suspect inside his home. An emergency protective order was issued and the 36-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Wednesday, February 7:

8. At 8:59 p.m., an officer responded to rear of Pizza Hut, 121 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a male subject who had started a fire. The officer located the subject feeding the fire under large brush. The Arcadia Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The 25-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Thursday, February 8:

9. At 7:54 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Vista Del Valle Drive regarding a burglary report. The resident returned home and discovered her sliding glass door had been pried open. She noticed muddy shoeprints leading from the sliding door to her restroom and bedroom. The bedroom had been ransacked and her designer jewelry had been stolen.

10. At 6:35 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a prowling investigation. The resident was inside her living room when she saw a shadow pass by her rear sliding glass door. She reviewed her video surveillance and discovered a male subject had climbed over the wall into her backyard. The suspect approached her sliding glass door then retreated over the wall. The suspect was described as male, wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, blue pants, and a face mask.

11. At 7:06 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1300 block of South Eighth Avenue regarding an audible alarm. An investigation revealed a burglary had occurred. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the home by smashing the rear glass sliding window. Once inside, the suspect(s) ransacked the master bedroom, stealing a Louis Vuitton handbag before fleeing the scene.


Friday, February 9:

12. At 12:44 a.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of 24 Hour Fitness, regarding a vehicle burglary that had occurred. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole the victim’s bag and wallet.


Saturday, February 10:

13. At 9:00 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of West Palm Drive regarding a burglary that occurred while the home was being fumigated. The unknown suspect entered the fumigation tent and removed a window screen to enter the home. The suspect then ransacked several bedrooms, stealing handbags, jewelry, and a credit card. The suspect was described as male, with a medium build, wearing a gas mask, a black jacket, blue jeans, black and white shoes, light-colored gloves, carrying a light-colored backpack.

14. At 3:06 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Orange Grove Avenue regarding a burglary in progress. The suspect, wearing all black clothing, climbed the fence and banged on the front door of the residence moments before breaking the rear door and entering the home. The residents locked themselves inside a room until officers arrived. Officers located the suspect who had collected items from inside the home. The suspect was both in possession of and under the influence of narcotics. The 47-year-old female from Sierra Madre was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
