Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report-Sunday, August 29th through Saturday, September 4th

For the period of Sunday, August 29th through Saturday, September 4th, the Police Department responded to 1,173 calls for service, of which 124 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, August 29:
At 12:13 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of Diamond Street regarding a burglary report. The victim discovered the unidentified suspect entered the garage, opened the victim’s vehicle, and fled with the victim’s tools and a set of keys. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect is a Hispanic male, approximately 25 to 30-years-old, wearing a baseball hat, a black surgical mask, a dark-colored T-shirt, and shorts.
At 2:07 p.m., an officer responded to Chevron, located at 500 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a vandalism report. The officer discovered the suspect, who was asked to leave the gas station for not wearing a mask and not being able to pay for his purchase, grew angry with the store employee and punched the glass windows causing it to shatter. A Sierra Madre Police Department employee was nearby and was flagged down to contact the suspect. Arcadia Police Department determined the suspect, a 44-year-old male transient from Los Angeles, was responsible for the broken window and arrested him. He was transported to the Pasadena City Jail for booking.
Monday, August 30:
3. At 1:17 a.m., an officer located a two-vehicle traffic collision near the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Huntington Drive. Upon contacting the drivers, the officer determined one of the drivers appeared to be under the influence of a stimulant. During a search of the vehicle, the officer located a bag of methamphetamine and three meth pipes. Arcadia Fire responded to assess the drivers’ conditions. The 63-year-old male from Riverside was cited and released in the field.
4. At 1:17 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of Fano Street regarding a package theft report. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect, a Hispanic male with a thin build, blue LA Rams hat, blue T-shirt, and light blue jeans stole the victim’s package from the porch. The suspect fled on a blue bicycle.
5. At 1:36 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of South Old Ranch Road regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown subjects entered the home by breaking a rear bedroom window and once inside, they ransacked the location and fled with an unknown amount of property.
Tuesday, August 31:
6. At 3:41 p.m., an officer responded to the area of La Cadena Avenue and West Duarte Road regarding a battery report. The officer discovered an altercation between a landlord and tenant which resulted in both parties physically fighting. One of the involved parties declined medical treatment for his injuries.
7. At 8:43 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of West Wistaria Avenue regarding a burglary alarm activation. An investigation revealed unknown suspects shattered a rear sliding glass door, they ransacked the home and stole the hard drive to the surveillance camera system.
Wednesday, September 1:
8. At 9:02 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of Alice Street regarding a suspicious circumstances report. The reporting party stated she applied for an apartment listing and when she researched the apartment more in-depth, she discovered it was not for rent and the listing was a scam. The victim was fearful that the suspect, who went by the name of “Clint Anderson”, was in possession of her social security number and banking information.
Thursday, September 2:
9. At 7:51 a.m., an officer responded to Sun Bay Pharmacy, located at 450 East Huntington Drive, regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage captured three suspects attempting to steal medication from the pharmacy, but they were defeated by the security features and fled empty-handed. The suspects are described as three males with tall, thin builds.
10. At 7:15 p.m., officers responded to Westfield Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary report. Witnesses stated that two suspects were seen smashing the windows of four different vehicles and stealing electronics, a backpack, and luggage. The suspects are described as two Black males driving a gold Honda Accord with collision damage to the rear passenger side.
Friday, September 3:
11. At 10:14 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of Hampton Road regarding an audible burglary alarm. The officer discovered unknown suspect(s) broke a skylight and ransacked the home. The suspect(s) fled with the victim’s jewelry.
12. At 10:15 a.m., an officer responded to The Derby, located at 233 East Huntington Drive, regarding an attempted commercial burglary. Surveillance footage captured two suspects jumping an exterior fence into a secured patio area and attempting to enter the restaurant. Suspect 1 is described as a Black male, approximately 25 to 30-years-old, approximately 5’9” tall and 170 pounds, seen wearing a black wig with a dark colored mask, a plaid long sleeve shirt, and blue jean pants. Suspect 2 is described as a Black male, approximately 5’11” tall and 195 pounds, between the ages of 30 and 35-years-old, and wearing a blue mask, blue T-shirt, khaki pants, and black shoes. They fled in a silver convertible Chevrolet Camaro.
13. At 10:53 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Sycamore Avenue regarding a burglary alarm activation. A review of the surveillance footage revealed three suspects were seen exiting a white cargo van and jumping over a wall surrounding the home. The loss is unknown at this time.
Saturday, September 4: 14. At 1:34 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding near the intersection of Huntington Drive and Santa Clara Street. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. The 43-year-old male from Los Angeles was arrested for being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
