Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, August 14th through Saturday, August 20th


For the period of Sunday, August 14th through Saturday, August 20th, the Police Department responded to 805 calls for service, of which 130 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, August 14:

  1. At 1:10 a.m., officers responded to Le Méridien Pasadena Arcadia, located at 130 West Huntington Drive, regarding a battery investigation. Officers discovered that a dispute between a married couple resulted in the husband injuring his wife. The 31-year-old male from Suwannee, Georgia, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check of his wife, a 28-year-old female from Suwanee, GA, revealed she had three outstanding misdemeanor warrants. She was also arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At 8:11 a.m., an officer responded to Sphinx Mart & Tobacco, located at 142 East Huntington Drive, regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage captured three suspects smashing the front glass door, cutting the lock to the security gate, and stealing the register and cigarettes. The suspects are described as three males, allapproximately 5’9”.


3. At 4:24 p.m., an officer responded the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Arcadia Avenue regarding an alert of a stolen vehicle in the area. Upon arresting the occupants, the officer discovered the passenger was in possession of methamphetamine and a smoking pipe. The driver, a 38-year-old male from El Monte was arrested for the stolen vehicle and a 35-year- old male from El Monte was arrested for the drug charges. Both were transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


4. At 7:19 p.m., an officer responded to Chase Bank, located at 60 East Huntington Drive, regarding a collision between a vehicle and a tree. Upon arriving at the scene, the officer discovered the driver had exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The officer eventually located the driver and detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her breath. The 54-year-old female from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Monday, August 15:

5. At 5:12 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle incident. Sometime between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., someone entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and fled with tools, a purse, and various items.


6. At 6:49 p.m., an officer responded to Victoria’s Secret, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. A store employee witnessed three Black females steal more than $4,200.00 worth of merchandise. The investigation is pending a review of the surveillance footage.


Tuesday, August 16: 7. At 2:56 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a robbery that had just occurred. An investigation revealed two victims were robbed at gunpoint after returning home from Commerce Casino. One the suspects fired a single gunshot at the victim’s vehicle while they were still inside. The suspects fled in a white Mercedes with the victims’ wallet and purse. The suspects are described as two White males, both approximately 30-years-old.

Wednesday, August 17:

8. At 9:32 a.m., an officer responded to Jolie Nails, located at 160 East Duarte Road, regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer determined unknown suspects removed the glass from the rear door, entered the business, and fled emptyhanded.


9. At 3:30 p.m., an officer responded to the 600 block of West Duarte Road regarding a theft from vehicle incident. An investigation revealed that when the victim returned to her car from the bank, she placed her purse on the front passenger seat and the suspect opened the passenger door and stole the purse. The suspect is described as an Asian male in his 20’s. The suspect fled in a small, gray colored sedan.


Thursday, August 18:

10. At 12:50 p.m., an officer responded to Coach, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. An employee of the store witnessed a lone male suspect steal nearly $3,200.00 worth of handbags. The suspect is described as a Black male in his 20’s, seen wearing a blue baseball hat, gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white tennis shoes.


11. At 6:17 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of North Santa Anita Avenue regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect entered the victim’s home through an unlocked door, he or she pried open the bedroom door and fled with a large sum of cash.


12. At 11:55 p.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a traffic collision. Upon contacting the driver, the officer noticed signs of being under the influence of drugs. The 25-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. During a search of the vehicle, the officer located a loaded handgun.


Friday, August 19: 13. At 2:19 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Golden West Avenue and Coronado Drive regarding an alert of a stolen vehicle in the area. The vehicle was located and the driver, a 26-year-old male from Bellflower, was arrested. During a search of the vehicle and a records check, it was determined the arrestee was a felon in possession of a firearm and burglary tools, had provided false identifying information to the officer, and had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

Saturday, August 20: 14. At 9:58 a.m., an officer responded to Foothill Mini Storage, located at 431 North Second Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary. The officer discovered someone entered four separate storage units sometime between August 19th and 20th. The loss is unknown at this time.
