Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, 9/18th, through Saturday, 9/24th

For the period of Sunday, September 18th, through Saturday, September 24th the Police Department responded to 911 calls for service, of which 105 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, September 18:
1. At 3:16 p.m., officers responded to Ralph’s, 211 East Huntington Drive, regarding the report of a bomb threat. An unknown suspect left a note threatening to bomb and shoot local police departments and Ralph’s. The grocery store was evacuated, and no suspects or bombs were located.
2. At 6:04 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Cheesecake Factory, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a battery that had just occurred. An investigation revealed the suspect was drinking at the bar when he walked out without paying, taking his drink with him. An employee followed the suspect and asked him to pay his tab. The suspect punched the employee several times. The 21-year-old male from Rosamond was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Monday, September 19:
3. At 4:36 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft that had just occurred. The suspect selected multiple pairs of sunglasses and placed them in a duffle bag before leaving the store without paying. A Loss Prevention Officer contacted the suspect who agreed to hand her the duffle bag. The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction. Three bottles of men’s fragrances and five pairs of sunglasses were recovered.
Tuesday, September 20:
4. At 2:15 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. A Loss Prevention Officer witnessed the suspect conceal a pair of pants while he was inside a dressing room before leaving the store without paying. The Loss Prevention Officer contacted the suspect who admitted to the theft. The 15-year-old male from Pasadena was issued a citation and released to his parents.
5. At 5:59 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the city of La Puente for an unsafe lane change. The officer contacted the driver and Arcadia Police K9 Kruz alerted to the trunk of the vehicle. An investigation revealed 45 pounds of methamphetamine. The investigation was turned over to LA IMPACT.
Wednesday, September 21:
6. At 7:52 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Springhill Suites, 99 North Second Avenue, regarding a battery that had just occurred. The victim reported that a female transient had been entering the hotel every day and taking food from the buffet. The victim asked the suspect to leave when the suspect threw a plate of food at the victim.
7. At 1:04 p.m., an officer responded to Bank of America, 1234 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a purse theft. The victim exited the bank carrying two boxes and her purse. The victim was placing her items inside her vehicle when she was distracted by a female suspect who told her she had dropped something. The victim saw a dollar on the ground and believed she had dropped it. It was at that moment that the male suspect grabbed her purse out of her vehicle and fled the scene.
8. At 6:25 p.m., officers responded to Forever 21, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. The suspect removed several items from the sales floor and exited the store without paying for the merchandise. A Loss Prevention Officer contacted the suspect outside of the store and the suspect pushed the officer and fled the scene in a blue compact vehicle.
Thursday, September 22:
9. At 8:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to the parking lot of 24-Hour Fitness, 125 North First Avenue, regarding a battery that had just occurred. The reporting party witnessed the male suspect grab the female victim’s hair and bang her head on the dashboard. The 34-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
10. At 10:40 p.m., officers responded to 7-Eleven, 102 East Huntington Drive, regarding a suspect who was trespassing. The suspect who was known to behave aggressively toward employees, was told to leave and not return. The 40-year-old male transient from Arcadia
returned to the location and was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
11. At 12:11 a.m., officers responded to 7-Eleven, 102 East Huntington Drive, regarding a theft report. The suspect entered the convenience store and stole a three-pack case of beer and placed it inside his backpack. An employee instructed the suspect to pay, but he refused. The suspect then kicked the doors open and fled the scene northbound on First Avenue.
Friday, September 23:
12. At 5:19 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of West Lemon Avenue, regarding a report of domestic violence. The male suspect was upset with his girlfriend for cooking dinner when he had bought take out food, He threw a bowl of hot soup at his girlfriend, and it splashed on their daughter. He then pulled his girlfriend’s hair and threw her to the ground before punching her stomach. The 35-year-old male from West Covina was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
13. At 8:19 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of Nordstrom, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery that had just occurred. The victim left the store and entered her vehicle. She placed her purse on her passenger seat. The suspect opened the driver side door and punched the victim in the face causing injury to her nose. The suspect then reached over the victim and stole her purse. The suspect fled the scene in an awaiting vehicle. The suspect is described as a male adult, approximately six feet tall, with a thin build, wearing all black attire. The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model black four- door sedan with a female driver.
Saturday, September 24:
14. At 11:48 a.m., officers responded to Ralph’s, 211 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed the suspect had stolen groceries from the store and fled the scene on a stolen bike. Officers located the suspect who refused to obey commands. The suspect was taken into custody. The 26-year-old male from Pasadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
