Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report -October 10th through October 16th, 2021

For the period of Sunday, the Police Department responded to 1,062 calls for service, of which 120 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, October 10:
At 4:29 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1400 block of North Baldwin Avenue regarding a burglary report. The officer discovered two suspects were “squatting”, also known as trespassing and living at the location without the authorization of the owner. The officer arrested a 35-year-old male from San Bernardino. A records check of the second suspect revealed the 29-year-old male from San Bernardino had an outstanding felony warrant. He was also arrested. Both suspects were transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At 6:58 p.m., an officer responded to the parking structure at the Westfield Santa Anita Mall, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a vandalism report. The victim discovered her vehicle was scratched sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 5:03 p.m. on October 10th. The victim believes the suspect is an upset driver she encountered while parking.
Monday, October 11:
3. At 6:57 a.m., an officer responded to Pho-licious, located at 529 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. Sometime during the previous night, an unknown suspect smashed the front window and stole cash, electronics, and the company checkbook. The suspect attempted to fraudulently pass one of the stolen checks, but the bank was able to cancel the transaction.
4. At 1:59 p.m., while investigating the burglary on October 10th in the 1400 block of North Baldwin Avenue, detectives discovered two more burglary suspects inside the same residence and a large amount of mail, personal documents, credit cards, and driver’s licenses of numerous victims. A 34-year-old male from San Bernardino and a 34-year-old female from Banning were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The female was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. She also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
Tuesday, October 12:
5. At 7:48 a.m., an officer responded to Golden Years, located at 60 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a theft from vehicle incident. Surveillance footage revealed the lone suspect cut the fuel lines to two vehicle and stole numerous gallons of gasoline. The suspect is described as a 30 to 40-year-old male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and mask, with a medium build.
6. At 12:07 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle report. Sometime between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on October 12th, someone stole the victim’s 2002 Cadillac Deville from the rear carport.
Wednesday, October 13:
7. At 7:51 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Rodeo Road regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed someone entered the home by smashing a rear window. The loss is unknown as of the publication of this report.
8. At 8:18 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a robbery that had just occurred. Surveillance footage revealed three victims were exiting their vehicle when they were approached by the suspects. The suspects pointed their firearms at the victims and stole a toy poodle and a cellphone. The suspects fled in a newer model, black Nissan Altima. The suspects are described as four Black males, all approximately 6’ tall and were seen wearing hooded sweatshirts and sweatpants.
Thursday, October 14:
9 At 9:25 a.m., an officer responded to the City of Arcadia Public Works yard, located at 230 North Second Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. The reporting party discovered someone stole eight batteries used to power a message board. The batteries were stolen sometime since April of this year.
10.At 2:55 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, located at 300 West Huntington Drive, regarding a trespassing report. An investigation revealed a hospital patient refused to be discharged and was subsequently arrested for trespassing. During the arrest, she resisted. The 67-year-old female from Arcadia was transported to the Pasadena City Jail for booking.
Friday, October 15:
11. At 3:36 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of East Foothill Boulevard regarding a possible catalytic converter theft in progress. When the officer approached one of the suspects, he fled, and a foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was ultimately located and arrested. A second suspect was also located and arrested. A search of their vehicle revealed an additional catalytic converter, burglary tools, and a firearm. A 31-year-old male from Colton and a 33-year-old male from San Bernardino were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
12. At 9:53 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Unified School District’s Bus Yard, located at 35 West Saint Joseph Street, regarding a petty theft report. The officer discovered the suspect, who had just been terminated, refused to return a department-issued tablet and master key. The 34-year-old male from Arcadia is outstanding as of the time of this report.
Saturday, October 16:
13. At 1:37 p.m., an officer responded to Beauty Cultural, located at 715 South First Avenue, regarding a petty theft report. Surveillance footage revealed an unknown suspect stole the business’s cell phone and left behind a suitcase and Bose stereo system. The suspect is described as a White male between the ages of 40 and 60-years-old, 140 to 170 pounds, approximately 5’7” to 5’11” tall and seen wearing a light blue and green long sleeve shirt and dark colored pants.
14. At 4:03 p.m., an officer responded to REI, located at 214 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a petty theft report. An investigation revealed the suspect, a transient from Los Angeles County, stole a tent and sunglasses from the location. Responding officers located the suspect and discovered she was a danger to herself. She was transported to University of Southern California Hospital for evaluation.
