Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - May 1st through Saturday, May 7th,2022

For the period of Sunday, May 1st through Saturday, May 7th

- the Police Department responded to 916 calls for service, of which 107 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, May 1:

1. At 8:45 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of Hugo Reid Drive regarding a battery report. The victim stated an altercation between his roommate and himself escalated when the suspect, a 48-year-old male from Arcadia, hit him in the face. The officer was unable to determine if a crime occurred and the investigation is ongoing. The victim did not require medical attention.

Monday, May 2:

2. At 10:58 a.m., an officer responded to Segway, located at 405 East Santa Clara Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. The officer determined someone entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and fled with a large sum of cash that had been placed in the glove compartment. The suspect fled in black Hyundai Elantra. The investigation is pending a review of the available surveillance footage.

3. At 1:08 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of East Duarte Road regarding a mail theft report. The victim discovered his mail, including a newly issued credit card, had been stolen from his mailbox. A suspect also changed his mailing address on the account. The victim was not able to provide any information about the suspect.


4. At 7:54 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a petty theft report. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, a 17-year-old male from El Monte, steal approximately $139.00 worth of merchandise. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Tuesday, May 3:

5. At 9:13 a.m., an officer responded to Quickly Café, located at 171 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a vandalism report. A review of the surveillance footage revealed a male suspect approached the business and threw a nearby brick to break the front window. The suspect then fled without entering the restaurant. It is unknown if the suspect is linked to recent vandalisms that have occurred at the café.

6. At 10:33 a.m., an officer responded to the 800 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on May 3rd, someone smashed the window of the victim’s Scion and fled with a stolen bag.

Wednesday, May 4:

7. At 10:40 a.m., an officer responded to the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department to document a fraud incident. The victim stated she discovered two fraudulent transactions on her debit card resulting in a loss of $1,100.00. The victim was not able to provide any suspect information.

8. At 11:26 a.m., an officer responded to Kamsang Company, located at 411 East Huntington Drive, regarding a forgery incident. An investigation revealed the company issued a check to the proper recipient but discovered someone intercepted the check and altered the name. The suspect attempted to cash the check but failed. The investigation is ongoing.

Thursday, May 5:

9. At 1:07 p.m., an officer responded to a carport in the 900 block of West Duarte Road regarding a theft from vehicle incident. Sometime between Thursday, April 28th and Saturday, April 30th, someone entered the victim’s unlocked Ford Mustang and stole makeup, boxing equipment, and shoes.

10. At 8:42 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, located at 300 West Huntington Drive, regarding a battery that occurred earlier in the day at Dana Middle School. An investigation revealed the victim was hit by a fellow student multiple times in the face. The victim was taken to Arcadia Methodist Hospital by their parent for evaluation.


Friday, May 6:

11. At 1:27 p.m., an officer responded to Boba Ave 8090, located at 1437 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer discovered an unidentified male suspect broke into a lock box, obtained a key, and burglarized the business. The suspect fled with cash and a tablet. The suspect is described as a male with blonde hair, approximately 5’10” tall, 220 pounds and a medium build. The investigation is ongoing.

12. At 2:44 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Community Center, located at 365 Campus Drive, regarding a drug violation. An investigation revealed a male transient was smoking in the museum restroom. The officer located a glass smoking pipe containing methamphetamine. The 37-year-old male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. During the booking process, it was discovered that the suspect had tried to conceal methamphetamine in his pocket. This offense was added to the list of charges.

Saturday, May 7:

13. At 5:29 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Huntington Drive and Centennial Way regarding a traffic collision between two vehicles. Upon contacting the drivers, the officer determined one of the drivers was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Through a series of tests, the officer concluded the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .195%. The 62-year-old male from Victoria, TX was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

14. At 10:16 p.m., an officer responded to the Westfield Santa Anita Mall, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle report. Sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on May 7th, someone stole the victim’s Kia Optima from the mall parking lot near Cheesecake Factory.
