Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - May 15th through Saturday, May 21st

For the period of Sunday, May 15th through Saturday, May 21st, the Police Department responded to 836 calls for service, of which 103 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, May 15:
At 11:32 a.m., an officer responded to 7-Eleven, located at 200 Live Oak Avenue, regarding a battery investigation. The victim stated a male transient suspect threw a trash can lid at her after she confronted him about attempting to steal an alcoholic beverage and harassing customers. The suspect also battered the victim and again hit the victim with the trash can lid. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 35-years-old, around 5’9” tall,160 pounds, and wearing only beige pants.
At 12:25 p.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of South Baldwin Avenue regarding a series of thefts from vehicles. The officer discovered four parked vehicles had their rear- view passenger mirrors stolen sometime between 9:30 p.m. on May 14th and May 15th at 11:30 p.m.
Monday, May 16:
3. At 8:54 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2700 block of Caroline Way regarding a residential burglary in progress. An investigation revealed two transients had been living in the vacant home. A 43-year-old male from Jurupa Valley and a 30-year-old female from Ontario were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
4. At 1:58 p.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of East Huntington Drive regarding a fraud incident. The officer determined the victim sold products to the customer and the customer mailed a check for payment. Upon cashing the check, the customer placed a stop payment on the check, but kept the victim’s product. The investigation is ongoing.
Tuesday, May 17:
5. At 8:08 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia City Hall, located at 240 West Huntington Drive, regarding a municipal code violation. The officer discovered the suspect, a known local transient, refused to take down his encampment after 7:00 a.m., violating the anti- camping ordinance. The 43-year-old male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
6. At 10:06 a.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of West Duarte Road regarding a theft from vehicle incident. An investigation revealed the suspect was captured on surveillance footage breaking into two separate vehicles, with the second vehicle being a few blocks away in the 300 block of West Magna Vista Avenue. The suspect fled with jewelry, sunglasses, a smart thermostat, and other miscellaneous items from both vehicles.
Wednesday, May 18:
7. At 11:11 a.m., an officer responded to First Avenue Middle School, located at 301 South 1st Avenue, regarding a battery report. The officer determined a bullying incident between two students resulted in the victim sustaining minor scrapes to the knees and arms. The investigation is ongoing.
8. At 3:59 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia 210 Self Storage, located at 324 North 2nd Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. Sometime between September 1st of 2021 and May 18th of 2022, the victim discovered her storage unit had been broken into. The suspect fled with jewelry, clothing, furniture, and other items.
Thursday, May 19:
9. At 5:50 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of Las Tunas Drive regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim stated his Chevrolet Silverado was stolen sometime during the previous night. The vehicle was recovered a short time later by Los Angeles Police Department and it was returned to the owner.
10. At 4:29 p.m., an officer responded to the 1100 block of Encanto Drive regarding a mail theft report. An investigation revealed someone stole the victim’s mailbox. It is unknown if it contained mail.
11. At 8:54 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of East Foothill Boulevard regarding a burglary report. The officer determined an unknown suspect entered the home through an open window, ransacked the location, and fled with jewelry and handbags.
Friday, May 20:
12. At 4:45 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of Chase Bank, located at 60 East Huntington Drive, regarding an armed robbery that had just occurred. An investigation revealed two male suspects pointed handguns at the victim as he left the bank and demanded cash. The victim complied and the suspects fled in a newer model, white, Chevrolet Impala. The suspects are described as two Black males, both wearing all black attire and face masks. The investigation is ongoing.
Saturday, May 21:
13. At 6:21 a.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of South Santa Anita Avenue regarding a traffic collision. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. Through a series of tests, the officer concluded the driver had a blood alcohol content of .214%. The suspect, a 22-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
14. At 6:36 p.m., an officer responded to the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department regarding a grand theft that occurred in the 00 block of Campus Drive. The victim stated he was approached in his front yard by the female suspect who used “slight-of-hand” to steal his gold jewelry. The suspect is described as an Asian female, approximately 5’7” tall, 120 pounds, and was seen driving away in a white van. The driver of the vehicle is described as a Asian male.
