Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - March 20 -26, 2022

For the period of Sunday, March 20th through Saturday, March 26th, the Police Department responded to 838 calls for service, of which 122 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, March 20:

  1. At 4:57 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. Surveillance footage captured two suspects had smashed one of the windows and had stolen a dash camera/radar detector. The suspects are described as two males, one wearing a red hat and a black, long-sleeved shirt, and the other wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The investigation is pending a review of the submitted footage.

  2. At 4:28 p.m., an officer responded to the area of Foothill Boulevard and 1st Avenue regarding a disturbance. An investigation revealed the suspect entered Dollar Tree, located at 131 East Foothill Boulevard, began yelling at patrons, stole four lighters and threw them at employees. The suspect then fled to the nearby wash and started a fire. The suspect, a 24-year-old male transient from Arcadia, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Monday, March 21:

3. At 8:10 a.m., an officer responded to Kobe Range Hoods, located at 11775 Clark Street, regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects broke the front glass door of the business, removed the alarm panel, left it on the floor, and fled. It is unknown if they fled with any stolen property. Suspect #1 is described as a male, medium build, wearing a dark colored sweater and light-colored pants. Suspect #2 is described as a male, thick build, wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt and light colored pants. The investigation is ongoing.


4. At 10:47 a.m., an officer responded to Motel 6, located at 225 Colorado Place, regarding a battery report. The officer discovered the suspect, a 41-year-old male from Altadena, hit and choked the victim, who was the mother of their children. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The victim did not request medical treatment.


5. At 8:48 p.m., an officer responded to an apartment complex in the 800 block of West Duarte Road regarding a mail theft report. The victim stated someone stole her mail, containing a credit card, from her mailbox sometime between March 2nd and 20th and made multiple fraudulent charges. It is unknown how the suspect(s) gained entry to her mailbox as it was secured and did not appear to have been tampered with.


Tuesday, March 22: 6. At 7:13 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of Cornell Drive regarding a theft from vehicle report. The victim awoke to three suspects sawing and removing the catalytic converter from his Honda Element. The suspects fled in an older model white minivan.

Wednesday, March 23:

7. At 8:01 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of South Golden West Avenue regarding a burglary report. Sometime during the previous night, someone entered the secured residential parking area and stole various items and electronics from the victim’s unlocked vehicle. The suspect(s) then attempted to use the victim’s stolen credit cards at two nearby convenient stores, but the charges were declined.


8. At 10:54 a.m., an officer responded to Ralphs, located at 211 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a grand theft report. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, a Hispanic male wearing a gray shirt, steal two boxes of seafood from a warehouse freezer. The investigation is pending a review of the surveillance footage.


9. At 2:11 p.m., officers and the Mental Health Evaluation Team (MET) responded to the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Las Tunas Drive regarding a subject throwing objects into oncoming traffic. Upon contacting the subject, they discovered he had flipped over concrete benches and had vandalized a nearby trash can. The incident is being investigated and the 35-year-old male from Arcadia was not taken into custody.


Thursday, March 24:

10. At 11:44 p.m., an officer responded to the 800 block of San Simeon Road regarding a grand theft incident. The victim stated two male Hispanic suspects stole his gardening equipment from the bed of his truck at approximately 1:00 p.m. on March 22nd. The suspects fled in a newer model, black Chevrolet truck.


11. At 1:15 p.m., an officer responded to Public Storage, located at 12340 Lower Azusa Road, regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed a suspect forced open the victim’s storage unit and tunneled into another unit. Once inside the adjacent unit, the suspect stole multiple rifles. The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male, approximately 30 to 40-years-old, wearing all black clothing. The investigation is ongoing.


Friday, March 25:

12. At 9:21 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, located at 300 West Huntington Drive, regarding a theft from vehicle report. The victim discovered someone had stolen the catalytic converter from her Ford Excursion between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on March 24th.


13. At 12:36 a.m., officers responded to the 1400 block of South Santa Anita Avenue regarding a traffic collision. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. Through a series of tests, the officer concluded the suspect was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and had a blood alcohol content of 0.197%. The 47-year-old male from Santa Barbara was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Saturday, March 26: 14. At 1:52 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of East Huntington Drive regarding a physical altercation in progress. Upon contacting the involved parties, the officer discovered one of the parties, a 32-year-old male from Palmdale, was under in the influence of an alcoholic beverage in public and was unable to care for himself. During a search of the suspect prior to arresting him, the officer located a container of what appeared to be methamphetamine. A records check revealed the suspect was also recently paroled. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
