Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report -January 23rd through Saturday, January 29th, 2022

For the period of Sunday, January 23rd through Saturday, January 29th, the Police Department responded to 857 calls for service, of which 132 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, January 23:
At 10:28 a.m., an officer responded to the 2200 block of Lee Avenue regarding a fraud report. The victim stated his Instagram account was hacked and his account was held for ransom. The victim paid the suspect, but the unidentified suspect refused to give the victim access to his account. The victim does not know how the suspect accessed his account or any information about the identity of the suspect.
At 11:14 p.m., an officer responded to the Metro Plaza, located at 201 North First Avenue, regarding a theft report. The officer discovered one homeless male stole personal items from another homeless subject. The suspect threw a traffic cone at the victim as he fled. The victim was uninjured and the suspect was gone by the time an officer arrived.
Monday, January 24:
3. At 12:12 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of Alta Street regarding a burglary report. Sometime between January 17th and January 24th, unknown suspect(s) kicked in the front door, ransacked the home, and fled with various electronics.
4. At 4:11 p.m., an officer responded to Mo Mo Paradise, located at 56 East Duarte Road, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspects shattered the front glass window and fled with a safe and laptops.
5. At 3:57 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Naomi Avenue and El Monte Street regarding a battery that had just occurred. A transient suspect asked the juvenile victim walking home from school if she had any change. When the victim ignored the suspect, the suspect then grabbed her backpack from behind and the victim then punched the suspect in the face. The suspect responded by kicking the victim in the leg. The suspect is described as a male, White or Hispanic, in his 30’s, with a medium build, and wearing gray clothing. The investigation is ongoing.
6. At 5:42 p.m., an officer took a report of a grand theft that occurred at Albertson’s, located at 298 East Live Oak Avenue. The officer determined two suspects stole numerous bottles of wine and fled in a white Toyota van. The suspects are described as two Asian males. An investigation revealed a similar incident occurred in the cities of Glendora and Gardena.
Tuesday, January 25:
7. At 7:45 a.m., an officer responded to the 1000 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a theft from vehicle incident. During the previous evening, someone entered the victim’s unlocked Honda Civic and fled with the victim’s headphones.
8. At 9:36 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of California Street regarding a battery investigation. The officer discovered an altercation occurred between a contractor and the owner resulting in the owner hitting the victim. The suspect is outstanding as of February 1st.
Wednesday, January 26:
9. At 11:49 a.m., an officer responded to a parking structure near 125 North First Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary that had just occurred. The officer located a subject matching the suspect’s description and attempted to apprehend him. The suspect then ignored the officer and resisted the officer’s attempt to arrest him. During a search of the arrestee, the officer located drug paraphernalia. The suspect, a 32-year-old male transient from Phoenix, AZ was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
10. At 8:37 p.m., an officer responded to CVS Pharmacy, located at 188 Las Tunas Drive, regarding a grand theft incident. An investigation revealed the victim met up with the suspect to sell some sports cards and the suspect ended up running away with the cards before paying for them. The suspect is described as an Asian male, approximately 17-years-old, wearing a gray sweater, black sweat pants, white shoes, and a mask. The investigation is ongoing.
11. At 10:46 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of 125 North First Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime between 10:00 p.m. and 10:46 p.m. on January 26th, an unknown suspect smashed the victim’s car window and stole her wallet.
Thursday, January 27: 12. At 2:08 p.m., an officer responded to Victoria’s Secret, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. The officer determined four suspects worked in concert to steal numerous pieces of merchandise. They fled in a newer white BMW sedan and a black mid-2000’s sedan. The suspects are described as a four Black females. The investigation is ongoing. Friday, January 28: 13. At 4:15 p.m., an officer responded to Abercrombie & Fitch, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery report. An investigation revealed the male suspect had been apprehended by mall security after stealing multiple bottles of fragrances. While security was trying to identify the suspect, he pushed the security officer and fled. The suspect, a 41-year-old male from Conyers, GA, is outstanding as of the date of this report. Saturday, January 29: 14. At 4:37 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of West Norman Avenue regarding the activation of a GPS tracking device. Arcadia Police Department’s Detective Bureau utilizes tracking devices to combat package thefts throughout the city. The stolen package and tracker were in the possession of a 41-year-old female from La Puente and a 27-year-old female from Baldwin Park. Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Pasadena City Jail for booking.
