Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report for the week of Sunday January 20th to January 26th

For the period of Sunday, January 20th, through Saturday, January 26th, the Police Department responded to 1,040 calls for service, of which 141 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period. Sunday, January 20: 1. Shortly before 9:11 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, 300 West Huntington Drive, regarding a theft report. The officer determined a hospital custodian had stolen used vials of pain medication and medical supplies. The 29-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 2. At approximately 12:27 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of South Golden West Avenue regarding a grand theft report. The victim discovered her engagement ring and wedding band had been stolen by one of the three people who were cleaning her home. On January 26th, the victim witnessed via surveillance cameras the suspect steal cash from a bag. Officers responded to the residence and the suspect, a 43- year-old female from Rosemead, admitted to stealing the cash and rings. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. Monday, January 21: 3. Just after 9:22 a.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a theft that occurred in the 700 block of Callita Street. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect stole three uninstalled light fixtures from the residence sometime between November 26th and January 8th. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. 4. At approximately 10:57 a.m., an officer responded to Storage Container, 414 Fairview Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect used a pry tool to break into a storage unit sometime after November 2018. The loss is unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing. Tuesday, January 22: 5. Around 10:15 a.m., an officer responded to Victoria’s Secret, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed a black male and black female stole nearly $2,500.00 worth of merchandise. The investigation is ongoing. Wednesday, January 23: 6. Just before 12:43 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle for numerous vehicle code violations and unsafe driving in the area of South Sixth Avenue and Longden Avenue. Upon contacting the driver, a 55-year-old male from Arcadia, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. The driver refused to comply with the officer’s field sobriety tests so he was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check revealed he also had a suspended license. 7. At about 8:51 p.m., an officer responded to Walgreen’s, 253 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a theft report. The officer determined three suspects stole ink cartridges from the location and fled in a white, four-door Hyundai. The investigation is ongoing. 8. Shortly after 9:50 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of West Norman Avenue regarding an audible alarm activation. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) smashed a rear window and fled emptyhanded as the home is vacant. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. Thursday, January 24: 9. Before 6:05 a.m., an officer responded to the 500 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime during the previous night, an unknown suspect smashed a window and stole the victim’s backpack and gym bag. The investigation is ongoing. 10. Around 9:54 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Vaquero Road regarding a suspicious vehicle backed into a residential driveway. The officer located the vehicle and found the driver hiding in bushes in the backyard of the residence. A consensual search of the vehicle revealed tools and clothing consistent with residential burglars. The 27-year-old male from Monterey Park was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Friday, January 25: 11. At about 3:54 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed an employee stole $5,274.91 in cash from the register since December 18, 2018. The 18-year-old male from Altadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 12. Just before 5:16 p.m., an officer responded to Savers Thrift Store, 16 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a robbery report. The officer determined a physical altercation occurred between the female victim and two suspects resulting in the male and female suspects forcefully stealing the victim’s necklace and earrings. The suspects are known transients. The 45-year-old female from El Monte and the male suspect are outstanding at the time of this report. Saturday, January 26: 13. Shortly after 8:43 a.m., an officer responded to two incidents of vandalism in the 300 block of West Camino Real Avenue. The victim discovered the word “SAPE” had been spray painted on his garage door. A neighbor reported graffiti to his garage door as well. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. 14. At approximately 12:13 p.m., an officer responded to Garden Café, 850 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary report. Between 10:35 p.m. and 10:50 p.m., unknown suspects smashed the victim’s window and stole her purse containing her wallet and cash. The investigation is ongoing.
