Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - for the week 11/28/2021 - 12/4/2021

For the period of Sunday, November 28th through Saturday, December 4th, the Police Department responded to 968 calls for service, of which 111 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period. Sunday, November 28: 1. At 12:16 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Santa Anita Terrace regarding a burglary report. The officer discovered a suspect forced open the victim’s garage door and ransacked the garage. The loss is unknown.

Monday, November 29:

  1. At 1:15 a.m., an officer responded to three businesses located at 40, 42, and 44 East Huntington Drive regarding a series of commercial burglaries. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) pried open the rear door to 40 East Huntington Drive where they ransacked the business and used a shared door to access 42 East Huntington Drive. The suspect(s) then ransacked that office and forced open another shared door to 44 East Huntington Drive. The third office was also ransacked, and the suspects fled with an assortment of property. The investigation is pending a review of the surveillance footage.

  2. At 11:09 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of Christina Street regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime during the previous night, someone smashed one of the vehicle windows and stole the victim’s vehicle registration.

3. 11:36 a.m., an officer responded to Neo Learning Center, located at 19 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a theft from vehicle report. An investigation revealed unidentified suspect(s) siphoned gasoline from one of the business’s vehicles sometime between November 24th and November 29th.


Tuesday, November 30:

  1. At 7:53 a.m., an officer responded to the 1300 block of South Tenth Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle report. Sometime during the previous night, an unidentified suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole a pair of sunglasses. The crime occurred between Monday at 2:00 p.m. and Tuesday at 6:30 a.m.

  2. At 12:56 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of West Norman Avenue regarding a burglary investigation. The officer determined unknown suspects used the victim’s ladder to access the second story balcony. The suspect(s) then shattered a second floor window and ransacked the primary bedroom. The loss is undetermined as of December 7th.

  3. At 3:00 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Self Storage/U-haul Rentals, located at 35 West Huntington Drive, regarding a stolen vehicle report. The reporting party stated the suspect, a 30-year-old female from Covina, rented a vehicle and failed to return it. The vehicle was recovered on December 1st in Arcadia. The female suspect and a 38-year-old male from Covina were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Wednesday, December 1:

  1. At 7:22 a.m., an officer initiated contact with a subject in the area of Foothill Boulevard and First Avenue. The officer observed the suspect in possession of an open container of alcohol and a glass methamphetamine pipe. The 40-year-old local female transient was arrested and issued a citation.

  2. At 5:44 a.m., an officer responded to Motel 6, located at 225 Colorado Place, regarding a battery investigation. The officer discovered an altercation between a boyfriend and girlfriend resulted in the male suspect battering the female victim. Arcadia Fire responded to evaluate the victim. The suspect, a 34-year-old male from Thousand Oaks, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Thursday, December 2: 1. At 11:00 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2200 block of Highland Vista Drive, regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unidentified suspects smashed a rear bedroom window, ransacked the bedroom, and fled with an unknown amount of property.

2. At 7:28 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Public Library, located at 20 West Duarte Road, regarding a disturbance. The officer discovered a local transient refused to leave the location and had littered his belongings throughout the outdoor picnic area of the library. The 42-year-old local male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Friday, December 3:

  1. At 1:46 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Holly Avenue and Huntington Drive for speeding. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. Due to the signs and symptoms the driver exhibited; the officer arrested the 36-year-old male from Arcadia for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At 7:43 p.m., an officer responded a residence in the 00 block of South Second Avenue regarding a package theft report. Sometime between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on December 3rd, someone stole the victim’s package. The suspect is described as male and seen wearing a black sweater, black baseball cap, and the suspect fled on a bicycle.

Saturday, December 4: 1. At 9:28 p.m., an officer responded to Subway, located at 288 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a robbery report. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect entered the business, demanded cash from the register, and when the store employee refused to open the register, the suspect stole cash from the tip jar and fled. He is described as a black male, approximately 20 to 30-years-old, around 150 pounds, 5’7” to 5’9” tall, wearing a black mask, black jacket, and gray pants. The investigation is ongoing.
