Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report For the period of Sunday, October 27th, through Sat

For the period of Sunday, October 27th, through Saturday, November 2nd, the Police Department responded to 1,003 calls for service, of which 102 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, October 27:

1. Shortly before 3:58 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Monte Vista Road regarding a traffic collision between a vehicle and a tree. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her person. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The 22-year-old female from San Dimas was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

2. At approximately 10:57 a.m., an officer responded to the 2200 block of South Second Avenue regarding a stolen license plate. Sometime between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. on October 26th, the victim’s license plate went missing. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Monday, October 28:

3. Just after 5:28 a.m., an officer responded to a doctor’s office at 1245 West Huntington Drive regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed an unidentified suspect broke the glass window, ransacked the business, and fled with an unknown amount of property. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

1. At approximately 9:55 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of South Second Avenue regarding a battery report. The officer discovered an argument between a formerly-dating cohabitating couple resulted in the female suspect hitting the male victim with a metal pole. A records check revealed the male had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The 50-year-old male from Arcadia was cited and released in the field. The 65- year-old female from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

2. Around 8:14 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Winnie Way regarding a residential burglary report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect smashed a rear sliding glass door, entered the home, and fled emptyhanded. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Tuesday, October 29:

6. Just before 8:17 p.m., an officer responded to Spencer’s, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a fraud report. The officer determined the suspects used a fraudulent $100 to purchase miscellaneous items, and when they attempted to return the item a short time later, the cashier noticed the original bill was fraudulent. The suspects are described as two Hispanic males, 17 to 18-years-old, one approximately 5’3” with a thin build and the other approximately 5’8” with a stocky build. The investigation is ongoing.

Wednesday, October 30:

1. Around 11:20 a.m., officers responded to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 512 West Duarte Road, regarding a stolen vehicle report. The officer discovered the victim left his car unlocked and with the keys inside while he was working at the location. Sometime between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., an unknown suspect stole the victim’s white Chevrolet Express van. The investigation is ongoing.

2. Shortly after 5:50 p.m., an officer responded to CVS, 9952 Las Tunas Drive, regarding a theft report. A store employee witnessed the suspects steal $100 worth of miscellaneous items. The suspects are described as a Hispanic male and a Hispanic female, both in their early 20’s. The investigation is ongoing.

Thursday, October 31:

1. Before 9:34 a.m., an officer responded to Longley Way Elementary School, 2601 Longley Way, regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed a biological mother and a step mom were arguing when they pushed each other. The investigation is ongoing.

2. Around 10:26 a.m., an officer responded to an apartment carport in the 1200 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a commercial burglary report. Sometime during the previous night, an unknown suspect pried open the victim’s storage unit and entered two unlocked vehicles, fleeing fled with sunglasses and a flashlight. The investigation is ongoing.

Friday, November 1:

1. At about 9:00 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime during the previous night, an unknown suspect smashed the car window and fled with the victim’s vehicle registration card, cash, and a small bag. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

2. Just before 9:07 p.m., officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of Fano Street regarding a domestic dispute. An investigation revealed a verbal argument turned physical between an intoxicated boyfriend and his girlfriend resulting in the male striking his girlfriend’s face. The female victim was left with visible swelling to her cheek.Arcadia Fire responded and assessed the victim. The 53-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Saturday, November 2:

1. Shortly after 12:19 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Live Oak Avenue and Third Avenue for lane straddling. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the vehicle. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .112%. The 20-year-old male from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

2. At approximately 1:53 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Highland Oaks Drive regarding a residential burglary report. The victim discovered their home had been broken into by unknown means sometime between October 30th and November 2nd. The total loss was $1,300 worth of stolen items, including a handgun. The investigation is ongoing.
