Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report for the period of Sunday March 17th through Saturda

For the period of Sunday, March 17th, through Saturday, March 23rd, the Police Department responded to 1,039 calls for service, of which 131 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, March 17:

  1. Shortly before 3:08 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Sunset Boulevard regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) entered the home through an unlocked rear door and fled undetected with jewelry, a television, and a lamp. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

  2. At approximately 4:01 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1000 block of Holly Avenue for having expired registration. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered he was driving without a license. A records check revealed he had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. During a search of the vehicle, the officer located burglary tools and stolen merchandise. The 35-year-old male from Lynwood was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Monday, March 18:

3. Just after 2:57 a.m., an officer was flagged down by the CVS Pharmacy manager regarding a theft that had just occurred at the business, 1401 South Baldwin Avenue. The manager witnessed the 27-year-old female from San Gabriel steal nearly $150.00 worth of cosmetics. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

4. At approximately 4:36 p.m., officers responded to Savers Thrift Store, 16 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a theft of a bicycle report. A store employee witnessed the suspect steal a bicycle. Officers located the 48-year-old male from El Monte nearby and discovered he was in possession of methamphetamine and a meth pipe. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Tuesday, March 19:

  1. Around 8:07 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of Christina Street regarding a stolen vehicle report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) stole thevictim’s Honda Civic sometime during the previous evening. The officer discovered thevictim had her car keys stolen during a recent residential burglary. The investigation is ongoing.

  2. Just before 8:09 a.m., an officer responded to a residence under construction in the 300 block of East Forest Avenue regarding a commercial burglary report. Sometime during the previous evening, an unknown suspect entered the construction site and stole multiple tools before fleeing in an unknown direction. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Wednesday, March 20:

  1. At about 3:42 p.m., officers responded to Victoria’s Secret, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in regards to commercial burglary in progress. Loss prevention employees witnessed two suspects steal $4,229.78 worth of merchandise. Officers located the suspects as they fled in an Acura sedan, conducted an enforcement stop, and arrested the two suspects with the stolen property. A 51-year-old female from Los Angeles and a 15-year-old female from Los Angeles were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. Shortly after 1:19 p.m., an officer responded to LA Fitness, 125 North First Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary report. Between 8:55 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., an unknownsuspect smashed the window to the victim’s 2014 Scion TC and stole a laptop. Nosuspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Thursday, March 21:

  1. Before 1:44 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a mail theft report. The victim stated she was issued an Employment Authorization Document card that would be mailed to her. After confirming the envelope was delivered by the post office, the victim discovered her mail had been stolen. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

  2. Around 2:27 p.m., an officer responded to Emerald Day Spa Salon, 21 South First Street, regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed a male suspect forced entry into the business and stole $200.00 in cash from the register sometime during the previous night. The investigation is ongoing.

Friday, March 22:

  1. At about 4:31 p.m., an officer responded to a traffic collision near the 900 block of North Second Avenue. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her person. The 54-year-old female from Monrovia was arrested and transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for medical clearance. While at the hospital, the suspect purposefully damaged a wheelchair. This vandalism was added to her list of charges.

  2. Just before 8:31 p.m., an officer responded to the Westfield Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding the activation of a GPS tracking device. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy bicycles with tracking devices to combat the increase in bike thefts throughout the city. An investigation revealed a 33-year-old female from Pasadena was in possession of the stolen bicycle and GPS tracker. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Saturday, March 23:

  1. Shortly after 2:02 a.m., an officer responded to a hit and run traffic collision in the 800 block of West Duarte Road. The driver of the hit and run vehicle was located nearby and, through a series of tests, determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. The 29- year-old male from Temple City was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At approximately 2:18 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of Ellen Way regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed the female suspect shoved her sister to the floor causing the victim to become unresponsive and to have a seizure. The victim was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for treatment. The suspect, a 26- year-old female from Arcadia, was arrested and transported to the Pasadena City Jail for booking.
