Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report for August 22 - August 28, 2021

For the period of Sunday, August 22, through Saturday, August 28, the Police Department responded to 1,235 calls for service, of which 129 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period. Sunday, August 22:

  1. At 1:58 p.m., officers responded to a residential complex in the 400 block of West Duarte Road regarding the report of smoke seen coming from the location. An Arcadia Fire Department Arson Investigator responded and determined the fire appeared to have been started by a candle or incense left burning. The damage was minimal, and no one was injured.

  2. At 8:41 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Holly Avenue and Huntington Drive regarding a hit and run traffic collision that had just occurred. An officer located the suspect vehicle occupied by the female suspect and her children. Upon contacting the driver, he detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 36-year-old female from Arcadia was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  3. At 11:32 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1600 block of South Baldwin Avenue regarding the report of a subject violating a restraining order. The subject arrived at the location drunk and began ringing the doorbell. He then smashed a window. The 38- year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


4. At 3:30 a.m., officers responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, 300 West Huntington Drive, regarding the report of a male and female fighting in the parking lot. An investigation revealed the male subject battered the female and took her phone while she was calling the police for help. The 28-year-old male from Corona was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


5. At 4:26 a.m., officers responded to the Office of Walter M. Fierson MD, 1245 West Huntington Drive, regarding a burglary alarm. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect(s) smashed a window, ransacked the office, and fled undetected with an unspecified amount of eyewear. The investigation is ongoing.


Tuesday, August 24:

6. At 5:23 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Foothill Boulevard regarding a hit and run traffic collision. Officers located the suspect vehicle and contacted the driver. An investigation revealed the vehicle was reported as stolen. The 27-year-old female from Riverside was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

7. At 9:48 a.m., officers responded to The Original Pepper’s Mexican Grill and Cantina, 181 Colorado Place, regarding a transient sleeping inside the location. Officers located pry marks on the front door and the subject asleep in a booth. The 52-year-old male from South El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Wednesday, August 25: 8. At 9:28 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 1700 block of South Second Avenue regarding a suspicious vehicle with several occupants parked in the area for several hours. The officer contacted the female driver and three male subjects, and an investigation revealed the driver and one of the male subjects were in possession of a meth pipes. The 31-year-old female from San Diego and the 34-year-old male from Duarte were issued citations and released. Thursday, August 26: 9. At 7:46 a.m., officers responded to The Arcadia Methodist Hospital, 300 West Huntington Drive, regarding a female transient refusing to leave. The subject bit and pepper sprayed an employee. An investigation revealed she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The 23-year-old female from La Verne was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Friday, August 27:


10. At 1:18 p.m., an officer was flagged down near the intersection of First Avenue and East Huntington Drive. A bicyclist notified the officer that a male subject was brandishing a knife. The officer witnessed a known male transient yelling at another bicyclist while holding an object in his hand, before walking in lanes of traffic. The subject threw the object down when he saw the officer. An investigation revealed, the object was a prison-style shank two inches in length. The 40-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


11. At 6:55 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Country Oak Lane regarding a male transient trespassing and swimming in the pool. A records check revealed the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 40-year-old male from Ontario was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


12. At 8:01 p.m., officers responded to Tokyo Wako, 401 East Huntington Drive, regarding a male subject throwing rocks at vehicles and harassing customers at the location. Officers located the known male transient who had been arrested earlier in the day for brandishing a shank. The subject resisted arrest and spat on the officers. The 40-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Saturday, August 28:

13. At 6:31 a.m., officers responded to a call of a tracker activation in the 200 block of Arbolada Drive. To combat recent mail thefts, Arcadia Police Department Detectives have placed bait packages throughout the city which are equipped with a tracking device. Officers tracked the package to an occupied vehicle in the city of Pasadena. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and an investigation revealed the three occupants were in possession of the stolen tracker, several pieces of stolen mail, methamphetamine, and a loaded handgun. Two 21-year-old males and an 18-year-old male, from Duarte, were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


14. At 12:56 p.m., officers responded to Savers, 16 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a female transient shoplifting. Upon contacting the female, the officer noticed she was making incoherent statements, talking to herself, and attempting to harm herself. The officer determined that she was a danger to herself and released her to a hospital for evaluation.
