Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report -February 20th through February 26, 2022

For the period of Sunday, February 20th through Saturday, February 26th, the Police Department responded to 823 calls for service, of which 86 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, February 20:

  1. At 10:00 a.m., an officer responded to Avis Car Rental, located at 112 North First Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary that had just happened. While the manager was standing nearby, an unidentified suspect smashed one of the windows. The suspect fled emptyhanded on a bike and is described as a Hispanic male.

  2. At 1:13 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia 210 Self Storage, located at 324 North Second Avenue, regarding a grand theft from one of the units. Surveillance footage and the security system indicated the crime occurred on February 13th. The officer discovered the owner of a neighboring unit may be involved in the crime.

Monday, February 21: 3. At 11:08 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Encino Avenue regarding a package theft incident. The victim discovered her package was stolen from her porch on February 8th.

4. At 5:28 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a mail theft report. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, a heavy-set female, exit her RV, and steal the victim’s mail from his mailbox. The crime happened at 4:30 p.m. on February 17th in the 2300 block of South Fourth Avenue.

Tuesday, February 22:

5. At 12:32 a.m., an officer responded to the 1200 block of Lovell Avenue regarding the activation of an Arcadia Police Department tracking device. In an effort to combat package thefts throughout the city, the police department deploys tracking devices. Officers located a 28-year-old male from Temple City and a 26-year-old male from Pasadena in possession of the stolen property. Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Pasadena City Jail for booking.


6. At 5:06 p.m., officers responded to 7-Eleven, located at 102 East Huntington Drive, regarding a trespassing incident. The suspect had been advised of trespassing numerous times for causing a disturbance and panhandling. The 39-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Wednesday, February 23:

7. At 12:47 a.m., an officer responded to the area of 00 West Naomi Avenue regarding an attempted vehicle burglary. The victim encountered the suspect attempting to break into his vehicle. The suspect damaged the door lock to the vehicle but was scared off and fled emptyhanded. The suspect fled in a gray sedan.


8. At 10:37 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of West LeRoy Avenue regarding an alarm activation. The investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) entered the home by smashing a second story window, they ransacked the closet, and fled with an undetermined amount of property. The incident occurred sometime between 4:00 p.m. and 9:57 p.m. on February 23rd.


Thursday, February 24:

9. At 7:15 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of South First Avenue regarding a burglary report. A gardener discovered someone had pried open a door to the main residence and had broken a lock to a garage shed. The residence appeared to be vacant. The burglary occurred between February 17th and 24th. The loss is unknown at the time of this report.


10. At 1:22 p.m., an officer responded to the 900 block of Victoria Drive regarding a theft from vehicle incident. Sometime between January 5th and January 14th, someone stole the victim’s parking permit sticker from her rear window.


Friday, February 25:

11. At 12:31 p.m., an officer responded to Tea Maru, located at 57 Wheeler Avenue, regarding a burglary investigation. The victim stated the suspect entered the business during business hours and stole a digital cash register. The suspect returned approximately 10 minutes later to steal ice cream and two tablets. The officer reviewed the surveillance footage and identified the suspect from previous contacts. During an area check, the suspect, a 36-year- old male transient was located, arrested, and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


12. At 3:03 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot near JCPenney, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regrading a vandalism report. The victim discovered someone had opened the hood to her vehicle and cut her battery cable. There were no other signs of damage to the vehicle.


13. At 5:20 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a petty theft report. The officer discovered the suspect attempted to steal approximately $150.00 worth of merchandise before being confronted by a loss prevention employee. The suspect, a 55-year-old male from Pasadena, was arrested and issued a citation.


14. At 6:52 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Baldwin Avenue regarding a traffic collision between multiple vehicles, including one that had fled. One of the occupants sustained an injury to her neck. Witnesses reported the seeing the vehicle park near the Angeles National Forest Headquarters. Upon contacting the driver of the hit & run vehicle, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. The suspect, a 20-year-old male from West Covina was arrested for DUI Alcohol: Causing Bodily Injury, and Hit and Run Resulting in an Injury. He was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
