Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report -December 19th through Saturday, December 25th

For the period of Sunday, December 19th through Saturday, December 25th, the Police Department responded to 926 calls for service, of which 111 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period. Sunday, December 19:

  1. At 12:35 a.m., an officer responded to Burlington parking lot, located at 1201 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. Sometime between 4:00 p.m. on December 18th and 12:30 a.m. on December 19th, someone stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s Honda CRV.

  2. At 1:49 a.m., while conducting extra patrol, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Las Tunas Drive and Holly Avenue for driving with a flat tire. Upon contacting the driver, the officer immediately noticed the 37-year-old male from West Covina displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Through a series of tests, the officer concluded the driver had a blood alcohol content of .18%. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  3. At 8:49 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of West Palm Drive regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed the victim’s estranged boyfriend entered her unlocked home and stole utilities by charging his cellphone. The 42-year-old male from Riverside was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Monday, December 20: 4. At 10:08 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of East Huntington Drive regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim discovered a company vehicle, a 2010 Ford Econoline van, was stolen sometime during the previous evening.

Tuesday, December 21:

5. At 12:01 a.m., an officer responded to the 500 block of North Santa Anita Avenue regarding a dog bite report. The officer determined two dogs were fighting and biting each other resulting in both owners sustaining mild bite injuries. Arcadia Fire responded to assess one of the bite victims.


6. At 3:42 p.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of Genoa Street regarding a theft from vehicle report. Sometime during the previous night, unknown suspect(s) stole a catalytic converter from the victim’s 2008 Honda Element.


Wednesday, December 22:

7. At 12:08 a.m., an officer responded to Loyal Sun Insurance, located at 650 West Duarte Road, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed an unidentified male suspect was seen attempting to enter the business when he encountered the cleaning staff inside. The suspect returned, carrying a machete, but fled again once he saw the cleaning staff. The suspect stole a vacuum. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with long dark hair, and he was seen wearing a long sleeve tan colored shirt, grey pants, and was carrying a backpack.


8. At 1:45 a.m., an officer responded to Drinker’s Hall of Fame, located at 151 East Huntington Drive, regarding a battery report. The officer determined a verbal altercation between the suspect and two other females resulted in the female suspect hitting one of the victims and shoving the other. The suspect, a 42-year-old female from Sierra Madre and ex-friend of one of the victims, was gone by the time the officer arrived.


Thursday, December 23:

9. At 12:17 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of East Newman Avenue regarding a mail theft report. The victim stated he heard someone opening his mailbox and saw a White male, approximately 6’ tall, 180 pounds, with dark curly hair running away from his mailbox. The suspect fled on foot east bound on Newman Avenue.


10. At 2:31 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of Bonita Street regarding a theft from vehicle report. A witness stated an unidentified suspect stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s RV. The suspect fled in a small, newer model, blue sedan. The incidence occurred at 7:48 a.m. on December 23rd.


Friday, December 24:

11. At 11:19 a.m., an officer responded to Papa John’s, located at 1312 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. The officer discovered someone entered his unlocked vehicle, ransacked it, and damaged the steering column in an attempt to steal it. The suspect also stole numerous credit and debit cards. Surveillance footage captured the incident and the suspect is described as a male suspect wearing a black baseball hat, a grey jacket, grey pants, and a black backpack. The suspect is seen fleeing on foot toward Naomi Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.


12. At 3:10 p.m., an officer responded to 99 Ranch Market, located at 1300 South Golden West Avenue, regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed the suspect punched the victim seven times for having too many items in the express check out lane. A 36-year-old female from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The victim was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital by Arcadia Fire for evaluation.


13. At 11:29 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of Westfield Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a battery report. The victim stated she left a party and was approached by the suspect, another patron of the party. The suspect asked the victim to hang out with him and when the victim rejected him, the suspect became upset, he attempted to take the victim’s phone, and scratched the victim. The suspect, an Asianmale between the ages of 25 and 30-years-old, was gone by the time the officer arrived. The investigation is ongoing.


Saturday, December 25: 14. At 8:21 a.m., an officer responded to 360 Wellness Group, located at 26 East Huntington Drive, regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed a lone male suspect entered the business with either a key or a lock picking device, ransacked the interior, and removed four alarm panels from the walls. The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male, wearing a black hooded jacket, dark blue jeans, black shoes, a black baseball hat, and was seen driving a white Chevrolet Suburban. The investigation is ongoing.
