Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report- December 12th - December 18th, 2021

For the period of Sunday, December 12th through Saturday, December 18th, the Police Department responded to 1,025 calls for service, of which 115 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, December 12:

  1. At 12:11 a.m., an officer responded to Bowlero, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a disturbance report. The officer was told that two males were fighting, and both had entered a vehicle and were leaving the area. The officer located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath and body. The 30-year-old male from Los Angeles exhibited signs of being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At 4:30 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of the Westfield Santa Anita Mall, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding theft from vehicle incident. Sometime between 2:45 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on December 12th, someone entered the victim’s unlocked trunk and stole baby clothes and bedding.

Monday, December 13:

  1. At 1:42 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of West Huntington Drive and South Baldwin Avenue regarding a traffic collision. The driver displayed signs of being heavily intoxicated. Through a series of tests, the officer discovered the 23-year-old male from Pasadena was driving with a blood alcohol content of .18%. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At 5:56 a.m., an officer responded to Knockouts, located at 1580 Clark Street, regarding a robbery that occurred an hour prior. The victim stated he was leaving the location when he was followed, beaten by four suspects, robbed of his wallet, cash, and passport. The victim sustained numerous injuries and was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for treatment. The investigation is pending a review of the surveillance footage.

Tuesday, December 14:

  1. At 12:51 a.m., an officer responded to Capital Seafood, located at 333 East Huntington Drive, regarding an audible alarm activation. Surveillance footage revealed four suspects smashed the front door window, ransacked the business, and fled with cash from the register and a tool box. The investigation is ongoing.

  2. At 12:57 a.m., an officer responded to Kiyo Japanese Cuisine, located at 815 West Naomi Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary. A security guard saw four suspects inside of the location and confronted them as they were running to their vehicle. The suspects fled in a white sedan. The suspect stole the restaurant’s cash register drawer containing cash.

Wednesday, December 15:

  1. At 12:17 a.m., an officer located a vehicle that had collided with a traffic signal pole near the intersection of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue. Upon contacting the driver, the officer noticed signs of alcohol intoxication and, through a series of tests, determined the driver had a blood alcohol content of .15%. The 46-year-old male from Alhambra was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At 9:30 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of East Duarte Road regarding a grand theft report. Sometime during the previous night, someone stole the victim’s front and rear passenger-side wheels from her 2021 BMW sedan. The vehicle was parked in a secured parking lot at the time of the crime. The investigation is pending a review of the available surveillance footage.

Thursday, December 16:

1. At 3:16 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Center Pharmacy, located at 631 West Duarte Road, regarding an alarm activation. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects pried open the rear door and stole the cash register. The suspects are described as two males with large builds.

2. At 5:20 p.m., an officer responded to Sundance Window Coverings, located at 5507 Peck Road, regarding a vehicle burglary report. Surveillance footage captured the suspect follow the victim into the business parking lot, and after the victim exited his vehicle, the suspect used a crowbar to break the victim’s window and the suspect stole a recent bank withdraw from the glove box. The victim believes the suspect witnessed him make the withdraw and then followed him. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 20 to 30-years-old, with a slender build, a black baseball hat, a blue medical mask, a black shirt, and blue jeans.

Friday, December 17:

  1. At 12:56 a.m., an officer responded to EXP Barcadia, located at 1020 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a disturbance call. A bar employee discovered a patron left behind a handgun. Responding officers discovered the suspect, a 27-year-old male from Miami, was also in possession of methamphetamine and MDMA pills. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At 10:56 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2600 block of South Santa Anita Avenue regarding a residential burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspects shattered the front window and stole the victim’s laptop, car keys, and vehicle sometime between December 12th and December 17th.

Saturday, December 18:

  1. At 8:21 a.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of California Street regarding a theft from vehicle report. The victim discovered his catalytic converter had been stolen from his Toyota Prius sometime during the previous night.

  2. At 4:37 p.m., an officer responded to 7-Eleven, located at 1003 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle report. An investigation revealed the male victim was visiting with the female suspect when he left his car running with the keys in the ignition and went into the convenience store, leaving her inside the vehicle. While inside the store, the suspect stole his vehicle. The suspect was a casual acquaintance of the victim and is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 21-years-old, 5’3” tall, 150 pounds, with red and black hair.
